Also is the oil meant to be exactly at the engraved line on the dip stick?
Sounds like a bad throw out bearing. Step on clutch and listen for any changes.

I'd say stock clutch is good for no more than 225 uncorrected tq, probably closer to 210 for any serious span of time.

For the record we just run some 255 Goodyears 240 treadwear and don't get too wild with launch control. It is just power pulling it loose above 3500 in higher gears. In the summer it was 200 UNCORRECTED tq, so figure at least 220-240 in the cold on e85 with the JDL unit. Car is dramatically faster in the cold without the IC, and we're able to run some seriously advanced timing on e85 in these temps.
Thanks Mike. I have only destroyed 1 clutch and it went instantly (upgrading to stage 2 legacy gt without doing the clutch). Recently I noticed that I have a slight burning clutch smell sometimes but havent experienced any slipping. Could this be a sign or is my nose just playing tricks on me?

I was looking for your email today also and couldnt find it anywhere on your site. Could you pm you email address?

Hi Guys,

I've been following this thread and thanks to everyone's input I decided to pull the trigger on the intercooled Innovate kit last black Friday. I'm happy to say that I will be picking the kit up from the UPS store later today after work

One of the reasons I chose this kit is because I like how clean and oem it looks. Also, people say the install only takes 3-4 hours. I thought about doing the install myself but then decided I would prefer to have a shop do it that has already installed a few of these before. From what I have heard on this thread the intercooled kits have cheap plastic nozzles that tend to leak if not tightened or easily break.

Things like this are what I'm hoping a shop that has done a few kit installs already will be able to anticipate and handle properly. So i'm turning to the community for help.

Can anyone recommend a shop that has already installed a few of these kits? I live in Santa Barbara (still technically SoCal) but I'm willing to drive to the LA or OC area if someone can recommend a good shop.

If you know of a good shop in SoCal that has installed a few of these kits then please PM me with their contact info.

Thanks!

Talk to @DeliciousTuning - He's out that way and should be able to point you in the right direction for a shop to install it. I'd also recommend having him tune your car for you.

Thanks. @DeliciousTuning was my first thought and I PMed him already a couple days back, but my guess is he's really busy because I haven't received a reply back yet. From all the good stuff I've heard about his tunes and his overall support in this forum I definitely would like to have him tune my car.

I was just checking to see if anyone else had any good recommendation. I guess I'm just getting excited because I'm getting my kit today

Also, good to know about the catch can helping with the tune. Hopefully Radium releases their catch can kit for our cars soon.

The only issue i've heard of the plastic fittings were the one on the back of the supercharger, which have supposedly been taken care of by innovate prior to shipping. They were finding that once it was heat cycled they would back off a bit.

I know the heat exchanger also has plastic fittings so I hope there are no issues with those. I'll let someone with the IC kit chime in. I kind of forgot about those actually, hoping they are ok as my kit comes in two days.

It's supposed to be available any time now. I bought their universal dual catch can setup in the mean time, hoping that I can order the FT86 specific bits separately when they're released.

Learnt a valuable lesson. If you want something done correct, do it yourself.
Pulled the SC off and I spent the entire day stripping it down to find the cause of my problem.
The cooler adapter o rings, seems out of the 6, 2 were not the correct size, causing the coolant to leak into the manifold.
Now this is puzzling me. After changing the coil pack on bank 1 and new plugs, the very next day the coolant started leaking, which I can only assume the bank 1 has been dead for sometime and once fixed the boost pressure caused the incorrect o ring to fail.
I took the opportunity to seal the L connectors again, apply grease and seal the kit properly.
Put kit back, started up, car running perfect
Hopefully that's the end of my problems.

a little bit, but i do like having a boosted sleeper. people don't expect them to be as fast as they are if they don't have a FMIC. atleast people around here don't

Try Evasive Motorsports I know they have installed a couple, plus they have a dyno on site. Most definitely get a tune after

I have gotten so many waves from high end cars like porshes and vettes because of this. Just 2 days ago I had a cayman s try to ricer fly by me so I floored it and he couldnt pass. We ended up cruising for a bit and gave a thumbs up when I got to my exit. Same thing happened with a tuned Legacy GT, when he finally caught up you could see how surprised he was.

So yeah you are right sleeper can be fun.
