Scion is Toyota, surprise! When I take my car in it doesn't get serviced by Scion techs. I don't go to a Scion dealership to buy it or to get parts. It's all Toyota. Just think of Scion as a Toyota trim level. And Toyota has plenty of history of their own. Both good companies with different pros/cons.

You'd think so, but insurance companies feel otherwise. It's a possibility that Subaru owners in your district are shittier drivers than Scion owners due to age, sex, single, married, etc of who buys what.

It's funny because if Subaru had done the same I'd have been in a BRZ Limited instead, but (in my specific case) Toyota was more flexible with the over-all financing for me. I prefer the FR-S front-end/side trim anyway, and didn't want a spoiler really, so that worked out. I really just wanted push to start.

We all have a BRZ and we all have an FR-S. Some even have a GT86 which is still a BRZ/FR-S and vice versa. They're all the same car. It's like if I buy a pair of shoes from one store and someone says why didn't you buy that exact same pair of shoes but with different laces from that other store? It's the same shoe. The only difference is the laces, store return policy, etc. The Monogram version moves the trim levels even closer to each other. None of these editions is better than the other, they are all made to fit different price points, preferences, etc.
Trade value is something that isn't consistent enough to really base the type of discount you get on a car. If everyone was getting an additional $1k to $1.5k on their trades towards a Scion, then we could have a better idea of what the discount is, but not everyone will be trading in a car and hence, not be eligible. It's extremely YMMV whereas BRZ prices can be had with standard negotiation.

Yeah, if anything, we now have a true 86 GT trim level, which is a GOOD thing. Hell, TRD parts are cheaper than STi parts for OEM+ lovers too!

I agree - I really don't care whether it's a Subaru or a Toyota/Scion. The only reason I am holding out for the Monogram is because I like Scion's color palette more than Subaru's. If Scion Canada prices itself beyond the fully loaded BRZ, then I don't care about the Monogram edition and stick to my original plan for the BRZ.

I also tend to lean towards Toyota because my family has bought 3 cars from the same sales person at our local Toyota dealership in the last 3 years and he has always been a pleasure to deal with. I have zero experience with Subaru and thus a little tentative but obviously will still pursue it if needed to.

Once the official announcement comes out - I may just have to move my car shopping time a month earlier... was planning end of April but may have to move to March due to the "limited time offer".

Leave it up to Toyota/Scion Canada to leave out some features and price it more than the BRZ, wouldn't be the first retarded thing they've done as of late.

Lol I know. I'm just saying nobody outside of Scion ownership gives even the slightest fuck about scion the brand. Most people just see Scion as a car company for kiddies. I agree with you I just wish they'd just launched it under true badge it belongs under from the start, along with all the standard features the GT86 got. Then there would be no need for these editions if they had it from the start which they should have anyways was all i was saying

But I wanted the car too much to hold out a year or more for cosmetic and creature comforts.

I must admit I would have bought the monogram packaged car if it was available at release, but it wasn't, so I bought my car and have enjoyed it the whole time. I've already added a set of GT86 headlights, which was the basis of my jealousy, so it's not all bad.

Now I just have to wait to see if Scion starts bringing over those japanese catalog options, like the TRD body kit...

Totally agree with you . i just bought my 2014 frs cuz i couldnt wait any longer . ive since ordered the winjet headlights cuz it was also the basis of my jealousy

Prior to the FRS, people thought Scion only made the tC and the shoebox with wheels xB. They need to advertise more because there are still a lot of people that don't know Scion (and fewer that know it's Toyota -believe it or not).

It all depends where you live. I'm with State Farm as well, and the BRZ was a little under $30 less per month vs the FRS. Solidified my case to buy the BRZ right when I found this out.

Limited to the existing color choices for 2013/2014 production.

I'm curious too. What color are future owners ordering? What color would the rest of us order?

Me, either would work:

#1--Raven
#2--Whiteout

When do we get to see the first pictures of the interior and trim?

The FR-s cloth seats are surprisingly excellent IMO. Even the color makes the aesthetics pleasing. And talk about comfortable! Wowza!

When the FRS first launched it was criticized for not having all the features available in other countries where the car is sold as an 86/GT86. Now we are getting those features and people complain.

This is great!! Whatever it takes to reach a broader audience and give people CHOICES. We need more people driving cars like these. Fuel efficient, good chassis dynamics, not too heavy... oh what a feeling!!

Personally I dislike dual climate control. If I could request standard HVAC this Monogram thing might interest me. Alas, it seems you gotta go all-in for the options or get nothing.

That rearview mirror is so cool.
