as mentioned to the CPT guys earlier, fuel differs from day to day and station to station.
I run Shell from the same garage and today the car is pinging in the heat while other days its not pinging. As per my datalogs from my Honda's Hondata EMS, fuel quality is totally variable day to day, station to station. One day logs will add timing +10deg from a station, a week later it will retard -10deg from the exact same station. All the garages in the same area use the same base fuels. Their additives do differ though. I use Shell and Engen as I believe their additive packs are best regarding keeping the engine, valves and injectors clean |

I've been driving (only) a day now with Liqui Moly Octane plus in the tank and early observations are that's it's like driving with real butter in the tank (and that's a good thing btw). the throttle response is so much smoother whether in gear or shifting gear...
I've been getting a bit of a short 'buzz' sound from the engine recently when pushing the throttle abruptly (like the engine gets too much or too little petrol - if anyone has any ideas what that could be?) but that's all gone now. I haven't noticed the alleged power gain but the engine just feels so much happier that i'm considering using liqui moly all the time, despite it costing nearly R100 a can. |

I also use Liqui-Moly Octane plus from time to time. Your description of butter in the tank is spot on - I found it much smoother. I'm still a skeptic with these boosters and the longevity of my spark-plugs so I use it only on breakfast runs etc. Is that buzz more like a crrrr (not crunchie ad lol!)? Could be pinging...
I fill up with Engen (close to home) yet I still notice some pinging between changes (especially uphill) after sitting in traffic for a while on a hot day. Shell Nitro was a letdown for me. Have used Caltex - nothing special but not bad either. Sasol seems to be one of the better options but I have yet to use it over an extended period. Quote:

Hi think the opposite is posible .. as the boosters should improve on the plug as we are running below the needed RON the plug burns away.. as in my pref post 30 000 k and the cylinder one plug was gone.. so either run a colder plug or ge the boost to help.. Would like so hear some of the other technical experts view on this ..
I will do a water \ meth kitt in FEB .. to help with my turbo and give me a safety... will also try the booster.. |

Hi Ryan , was just the plug.. will take a picture and share .. noticed the same experience in the other regions running a 95 RON on the forum.. where about 15 000 mile the plugs give a prob .. funny also plug 1 .. challenge to change the plugs is not a 5 min jobie..and with the Turbo .. will Toyota support me ?
Good word for the Athlone Toyota team .. replace my plugs just paid for the plugs.. all well and the car is running good now.. Must get it back to Dino as she spins now hard in 2nd .. so I am sure I gained a lot in KW by plug replacement. |
