Yay or nay
First I would like to say this is not my car in this photoshop. This picture belongs to jive turkey on the forum. I was bored at home and decided to do a rough chop on potential cosmetic ideas running through my head. Would like some input an thoughts.
My car is WRB. Got my coilovers in and will be picking up some bremmer br10's. Also plan on a sti style lip kit with HT auto side skirts. Wondering on what you guys think of the yellow headlight tint with this similar combo. *note* Jive has official ray gram extremes not replicas. The ones chopped in the picture are the bremmers. If I am violating any rules I will take the post down. |

3. Any light visible from the front of a motor vehicle may be only white, yellow, or amber in color unless another color is allowed under a Department of Motor Vehicles permit. (CGS § 14-96p)
The output will be yellow when on at night. So I believe (I may be wrong) it's ok in my state. Thanks for the input. Just gauging general consensus. I am going with all mods except the tint so far. Just an idea I'm toying with. (Hence the photoshop before actual execution ) |

Well i'll be the first to say, I like it. I don't know if I like the fog lights in yellow or not but it might look weird if they don't match.

Nay
Yellow lens = reduced output, and distracting to other drivers. Why on earth is reducing light output the new cool thing to do?! Dumb and irresponsible. No other way to put it.

The gt300 is where I first got the idea from. I was also aware of the yellow headlights being the slower class in racing. Lol. Still debating might try it and see how it looks in person. Tint is easily reversible! |

The correct spelling is "Yea", not "Yay".
The correct answer is "Nay, that's totally gay". |

If you actually want to see maximum detail the yellow wavelength of light is the way to go. HID/blue/white really lights up the road but also reduces your actual night vision ability - you don't see any better with a brighter white light. In fact you lose more detail with a lot more light output because you wash out the contrast/blow out the detail by bombarding objects and the road surface with way more light than necessary. You just need enough light to illuminate the road and give you detail to read the surface and surrounding areas. Easy tip to see better at night - put your sunvisor down at a proper level to block out oncoming traffic lighting to your face...you will see more detail in the road surface by doing so. Vracer111, who will be tinting/coating his headlights yellow...because he want's better night vision. It doesn't hurt that it looks better than stock either...

Actually, they did. It's called Selective Yellow: [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Selective_yellow"]Selective yellow - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] Not a terrible fan of the coatings on the headlights though. Fog lights, hell yes. |
