Bought a MT but I'd imagine a regret of having the auto is having to make threads to make your self feel like you made the right purchase when you realize you didn't.

Well FR-S was my first manual car. I had to test drive an auto before I ended up buying a manual. I had 3 days to get some practice after test drive to learn the arts of driving a manual. I live in LA so I do get a lot of traffic on a famous 405 freeway. My whole family told me that getting a manual is a dumb idea, and that I'm gonna hate it after a week. Well a week passed by and I'm in love with the car and manual transmission. I just like to have full control of the car and it definitely got me learning. Plus it helps to not fall asleep in traffic :P

Isn't it weird how manuals and hatchbacks are rare in the US but not anywhere else.

This is a great automatic transmission! It shifts fast and there's a simulation of heel toe down shifting. The automatic gets better MPG, by about 3 I believe.

You need better friends LOL

Dude! The only people you should care about is your family members opinions. Why your friends ?

Anyways, New F1 and High-end Luxury cars are all in the Paddle shifters.

GT-R is one of those.

Next time, come back at him as....Has you been living under a rock ?

As a guy who have owned Manual cars in the pass 10 years, I am now looking for a new car with Paddle Shifters. I will not regret, I know it because I have test drove it vs my Manual.

- I wanted to re-learn stick as I think it's a valuable skill to have
- It's dumb, but I feel like there's a secret society of M/T drivers and I wanted to be in on it
- I get too bored in traffic if I'm not having to shift (drove my previous car a couple days ago, A/T 2006 Maxima, almost fell asleep at the wheel during rush-hour traffic)
- Because racecar
- Lastly, it's a fairly effective theft-deterrent in the U.S.

This. Although, gimmicky, it is sadly true.

All cars with paddle shifters are not created equal. The GTR and other high end cars uses a dual clutch type, no TC. Big difference from what the twins use.
Not really comparable.

It all comes down to what you want who cares what anyone else says. People who laugh at your for having an automatic can go get back in their car and not ride in yours. They are not making any payments so I could care less.

I will admit I did not know how to drive a manual when I bought this car so that is why I went with the automatic and I am happy with my choice after learning to drive a manual. I do not race or autocross, I drive to and from work and around town, I could care less about fractions of a second to 60mph because you can't drive like that in traffic. Also if someone is defining masculinity by choice of transmission then I feel sorry for them because they are immature and are insecure about themselves.

In this direction, it is the same as manual transmission. They are nt created equal.

What i meant was that..all manufacturer are switching uses to paddle shifts. Simpe. Computer shift faster than a person.

The age of Manual is old....soon will be over. People always has hard time accepting technologies

So true, automated manuals are faster, efficient and becoming the norm for many cars.. but it's not always about being quicker or being automatic.
Driver involvement, being one with the mechanicals is more important to some than a millisecond shift time advantage. Less complexity, cost and driver feedback are more important to some..
Shifting gives me something to do when I'm trapped in traffic.. Otherwise I get bored and start waving my middle finger around at everyone driving automatics and talking on the phone
