I ran into the same issue. I wanted the boxer engine burble so I opted for a UEL. If you don't care about that, then this is the header you want. Either way, you aren't going to lose. Choose what makes you happy because both types of headers do perform extremely well.

Seriously. Add in the coupon they emailed to those that got on the list way back when, it's actually a damn good price for the material and build quality. I'll refrain from calling it an amazing price until I see untuned dyno results (on pump, obviously).

Keep in mind that the UEL headers take a different tuning strategy as compared to el or stock. Neither will be maximized without an appropriate tune, but my understanding is that el will see better results pre-tune with the gap narrowed somewhat post tune. I still think performance wise the el will win out in the end which is why they went this route. Max gains everywhere is the goal for these guys.

As Frs Matt said there are excellent options out there for those who are willing to compromise.

I'd have jumped on the coupon price, but I don't beta test anymore.

This, we already saw what the FT86SF UEL does without a tune, unless this provides a better HP and tq bump, and removes the tq dip, the FT86SF header remains a better buy...

If you're worried about what a header can do without a tune, you shouldn't be getting a header. Headers NEED a tune.

Glad to see it's finally here! Price is spot on, you get what you pay for... quality, function, and performance.

So, you have been waiting patiently (some of you not so) and we have delivered in the 11th hour.

As promised, the Nameless Performance Equal Length Stepped Header.

Quote:
John@Nameless

After countless hours of development and 7 physical prototypes, the Nameless Performance Long Tube, Equal Length Exhaust Manifold is ready for release. We have optimized the design of this header to maximize the efficiency of the FA20 engine in Naturally Aspirated form and the results are stunning. Our design has stood the test of time and still outperforms every header on the market including those designs that are blatant attempts to copy ours.

We released photos of the initial design over a year ago with the hopes of getting to a final product quickly. We discussed many options to help get this initial design refined to a point that we could mass produce them efficiently while still keeping the performance gains of the prototype. What followed was an exercise in frustration on our end trying to fit the desired runner lengths into the factory envelope and still make power.

The first 3 prototypes were equal length but constrained to the factory envelope which did not allow us to get the secondary runners as long as we needed them. The result was minimal gains similar to every other header out there on the market. We knew there was power on the table but had to find a way to fit the ideal runner lengths in the car.

Prototype number 4 was a no-holds-barred attempt at making the ideal header design. This design required removal of the factory radiator fans, coolant overflow bottle, and intake resonator. After dyno testing this design we knew we had a winning design. The “valley of death” had turned into a mountain of torque and peak numbers were very high as well. The only catch with this design was that the extra cost associated with replacing the factory parts with aftermarket equivalents was going to make the header prohibitively expensive.

Prototypes 5 and 6 were attempts to fit the same runner lengths as prototype #4 into the factory envelope. We were able to get close, but as with all good header designs the secondary lengths must a specific length to make power. These prototypes netted gains similar to designs 1 through 3. Back to the drawing board.

Prototype 7 was a revisit of prototype #4 with an eye towards retaining all the factory components. Initially we thought this would be impossible but after a full day of staring, pointing, and test fitting, we were able to get the ideal runner lengths to fit in the factory envelope. As an added bonus, this design is easier to install than any previous prototype due to redesigning the runners near the ports to allow for full access to the mounting bolts with a socket on an extension. Dyno testing confirmed the design was performing like prototype #4.

This final design is what we are now making available for pre-sale, we will be publishing official dyno sheets shortly.

How do you take your crow naysayers?

Happy New Year,
Ryan @ Nameless

to provide the optimum hp, yes, just like every other performance mod, but they can still supply great gains without a tune

The FT86 header removed the tq dip, and provided 14hp and 5tq without a tune, in a completely stock car.
