I think someone already mentioned it but, this could just be in Japan. As I've said before, that particular engine hasn't been legalized in the states. Hopefully we are still looking at a 2.5l..250-275ish..

Mind you if the price goes up to much the price could get quite dear in my country.. Our dollar is worth alot less.
1 dollar NZ is worth 60-69 cents US

This.

If this article holds true this car went from day 1 to a wait and see.

very very bad news

what ever happened to "we are going to make a car for the ethusiats" mentality

i'm 28 and will only buy this car if it is around $20k

and more importantly, performance first before green efficiency.

for christ sake toyota, stick to the original plan !!!

I want on in white. Such a gorgeous bike. Plan to get one before I make the permanent addition to my garage of a MV Agusta F41000 Senna.

Upping the target demographic and and a focus on fuel efficiency over power is code for changing this car from a bare-bones sports car to something far more bloated and bland. I've just got to hope that it is unfounded because if true I will have learned my lesson about believing a modern Toyota could have some real driving spirit. Damn, this car could have been great.

an extra 3 grand on the sticker isnt a huge deal, wanting to add extra mpg's is no big deal, the change in age demo isnt a big deal. but the moment toyo loses sight on what they originally promised this car would be, a low cost performance car, they will be proving once again that toyota cant make anything but bland sedans anymore.

to me the 200hp is a big part of the performance, its no where near unattainable. but if they try and give me a 'sporty' eco car, instead of a real performance car. my money is going somewhere else. this would be a HUGE wasted opportunity by toyota if they screw it up.

what in the world ... target age group for the car is 40?
Maybe they are trying to tell me by the time they release the car I will be in my 40's (in 13 yrs).

Hopefully they don't turn it into an overweight marshmallow like all the other "sporty" cars Toyota has come out with lately except the LF-A...

I don't think it's a big deal. They are only saying this to seperate the FT
from the new tC which will be close to $20k and targeted at 25 yr olds.
