Yes, you wouldn't think it could get that hot but it is scorching. Burn myself a couple times too.

We kept clearances in mind while designing this pan. The plan was to make sure it cleared most headers.

I hope that makes sense.
Not really, I'm struggling with this concept of a lower and upper pan. How do you make the pan wider at the bottom, but not increase oil system capacity? Am I just being dense, because there are several posts of "+1 quart capacity" in this thread.

Someone thought we meant 50% of the engine's total oil capacity. The FA20 holds 5.8-6 quarts from the upper and lower pan combined.

We meant that it holds 50% more than the oem lower pan. Since we are only upgrading the lower pan (which holds a little over 2 quarts) 50% of that would be roughly 1 quart extra.

Sorry, it was confusing the way I answered that first question.

If it stays under the factory slash shield and you are not destroying that I would see no issue on lowered cars. If you a destroying the factory splash shield and denting the stock pan then I would not recommend it as a cast pan will crack faster in that situation. As well is you are low enough to be denting the factory pan I would recommend to raise your car anyways.

can someone ELI5 this part for me? What are the overall benefits to changing in to this oil pan? My car is in the process of being FI'd right now, and this looks pretty cool. I want all the cooling possible for my oil.

Extra quart of oil, what is the benefit to it?
A marginal cooling effect, if its negligible, then what is the point?
Does this only work for FB turbo kit, or any FI in general that taps into the oil pan?
