The power/$ is what I meant. I'm waiting to see where this goes price wise to determine if I want this and a SC or just go turbo.

I would not use an aftermarket high flow cat with a supercharger. You run too high a risk of melting the cat with forced induction.

But what is the difference between the OEM catted header and an aftermarket HFC header. And then what about the OEM header and a HFC front pipe....or aftermarket header (no cat) with a aftermarket HFC front pipe?

FT-86 SpeedFactory Catted UEL Header
The amount of materials in the cats (short answer) make the HF ones not tolerate as much heat. A HFC further down the exhaust stream would probably be less of an issue but I can't say as all our superchargers are on cars without secondary cats.
I would worry more about running a catless header with HFC front pipe than running a stock header with HFC front pipe (I would assume with the amount of heat the stock cat is absorbing, the second HFC would be okay). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If I have a aftermarket header with HFC and a front pipe with HFC, would that make any difference on the HFC in the header or would it only really help the secondary HFC? Also, would NA put out enough heat to be increasing wear on the HFC? I'd ideally like to have only a single cat as that is what the law around where I live requires, but if two would be less likely to have issues... ![]() I've said it many times, but I'll say it again, I am a complete newbie to modding and tuning cars; this car has awakened a new hobby that I am finding that I love. I want to do this intelligently and correctly the first time (as much as possible).

FT-86 SpeedFactory Catted UEL Header
I admire that you are willing to learn how to modify your car. Very smart of you as it will save you a lot of time and money in the long run.
A secondary HFC should have no effect on a HFC in the header. It would further reduce emissions but it would be fine to just run one in the header. From what I have seen, the FA20 doesn't seem to put out enough heat to wear out a HFC at an increased rate. With heavy track use any cat will wear out a bit faster, but I don't see spirited driving and light track use making a major difference. Any of the other manufactures or experienced track guys have any input? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So I basically can't go FI. I live in MA and cannot eliminate all of my cats and pass inspection. If that is the case I will just be using this header and a catback. This makes me sad.

You can keep the stock cat with FI, it's just the HFC that I would not combine with FI.

I wouldn't keep the stock header if I went SC and not a possibility with a turbo. That just defeats the purpose IMHO. Oh well NA for me. At least I get to rock an awesome header!

Guess I am too used to getting screwed on parts for the F355... one header is $2800.00 (OEM) or a pair of after-markets for ~$3000.00 (need two). This is NA. |

If the price is $1000 there is no purpose in buying it. I can buy OFT + OFH for the same price, and get the same results, and also have a data logging tool. Just not even close to worth it. **edit - I live in texas, I'm not considered about emissions really, and also still have my 2nd cat **
I agree that the prices for headers are absolutely absurd on this platform. But this platform is new. R&D costs aside, they will be making huge margins on these. If ft86 speed factory really knows what they are doing, they will price it right. Forget the R&D costs, people are so much more willing to buy a $600 header than a $1000. I can almost guarantee they will sell more this way.

So at the price of $1000+ it becomes a tuner's dilemma whether to keep stock header when going with a sc. It was either jackson or kraftwerks for the dyno run. Sent from my LG-P769 using Tapatalk
