Subtle Jolt when shifting into first

Not sure if this has been brought up already, at least I didn't notice it.

But my check engine light came on this afternoon and I immediately noticed that when the car comes to a stop (I have a 6 auto) it has a subtle "jolt" as it switches into first gear. I'm not a car guy so I have no idea, any imput would be greatly appreciated. Also, the dealer is closed until Thursday so im relying on ya'lls expertise!

Not sure about the subtle jolt but you can take your to any autozone and they can check the engine code for you.

Possibly a sticky shift solenoid, I had a similar problem in my Tacoma when I first got it.

Get that CEL checked out at autozone. I believe the car is basically in a limp mode state (i could be wrong).

I experienced this when i had a CEL a couple of weeks ago. It did the same thing when the car went into 1st. I didn't like the feeling overall but the car ran ok enough to pull over and check the code. I didn't run great, it felt really off but i was able to get from Point A to B. If you have the code checked out report back with what you get.

In my case debris threw the sensors in the Oil Control Valve to go out of whack. After i had the dealer work on it the car works fine, no jolt feeling going into 1st as well.

At the time I was under warranty so they replaced the entire transmission.

Thanks for the feed back, I did get it serviced over the weekend and picked it up on Monday, my feeling is that something might not have been screwed on properly, you comment makes me feel much better though,

Merry Christmas brother!

Well my issue was probably a lot worse than yours. Mine wouldn't shift into first until you tried to take off from a stop then it would slam into first and screech the tires. But it would sometime shift into first at a stop with a little jolt...it depended on what it felt like at the time. Ether way your problem is most likely caused by the same issue, a sticky shift solenoid.

*Update*

Got her back from the dealer, for some reason the CEL was "off" when the tech looked at it even though I was on when I brought it in. Anyway, they did a computer check and noted in the history that there was error code, referring to a "cylinder 1-coil malfunction". so they gave it back to me after they reset the CEL and everything and it seems to drive just fine. Soooo all for naught I guess. Still its good to have her home

You need to get that fixed. Coil one pack will lead to worse problems down the line. I have a auto to and it just got replaced. Have you been driving the car hard? Mine happened after some 0-125mph pulls

Can i just take it back and be like "can you just fix it anyway"? I know its under warrantee but if it's technically not broken yet will they tell me to wait until it breaks all the way?
