Forza all the way. I have owned GT3-5 and they all disappoint me in terms of sound of engines and exhaust. I will never by a GT game again.

Forza 5 has a section called RALLY Cars, where you select Rally production type cars to race with, in a Section called RALLY Cars.

There is just one thing....No Dirt was harmed in the making of the races. And a Scion tC is in a Rally event?

The tCs were just the road blocks for the traffic event. :P

I rented GT6 a week back and liked it, even though I suck at racing games. If there was damage I probably never would've won a race. And that GTR kept ramming me, and I'd get disqualified. I actually never beat that challenge. >_>

I haven't gotten to play GT6 much, but so far I'm fairly disappointed.

My initial impressions....20% more cars, 15% better graphics, 10% better game play

60% let down...still fun to play, but I imagine Forza will blow its socks off. Pains me to say it.

Yea, looks like it. But in a Rally series though was my thing...

Doesn't appear to be so from the looks of it. 200 cars and 14 tracks in Forza 5 isn't exactly mind numbing like GT6's 1200 cars and 100 track configurations.

People say that not all the cars are internally and externally equal in quality. If you were to rid of all the cars that are internally inferior, you would still have double the cars that Forza 5 came with.

People complain of GT's sounds as if that's all that makes the experience enjoyable. Yet Forza has sounds, but they don't have:

-weather
-day to night transition changes
-setting the time of day you wish to at tracks
-Dirt or Snow tracks (they have rally cars, but you can't do anything but drive on tarmac with them, against non-rally cars)

And of the 14 tracks they do have currently....No Nurburg! That's blasphemy.

Agreed,

Not having Nürburgring is a huge knock against Forza.

I guess I'm just slightly disappointed because I had higher expectations for GT5 and GT6 and they haven't really been a major step up. I'll still play regardless

GT6 had essentially been in development for a decade (extension of GT5 which felt woefully incomplete) for a console that had been out and available since 2006. As such, there is quite a lot of carryover from older games (dating back to PS2 days for many of the car models). For FM5, everything had to be rebuilt from the ground up. Everything has higher detail and higher level of polygon complexity. Instead of cutting corners by shoe-horning in the old stuff, they ONLY included the new stuff. As a *launch title* for a brand new console, it's fantastic. As a continuation and sequel to FM4? Maybe not so much. There are plenty of little things I like better about FM4 than FM5, but I still VERY MUCH enjoy a lot of things with FM5.
When you recycle 90% of your content from old titles dating back more than a decade, it's not surprising to have so many cars and tracks. Given the circumstances, FM5 isn't quite as good as FM4, but I would still rather play either of them over another GT game. Maybe they'll win me back when they grow out of their old habits and go back to making a fun game, instead of a bland, empty grind-fest that literally cuts and pastes most of its content from a game released in 2004: models, textures and all.

To be fair, Turn10 had been doing this all along as well. The big reason for the huge change and loss of content is because new platform, higher resolution textures, so they couldn't copy/paste it.

I expect GT7 to be better than its predecessors, but I'm not going to put it up on some pedestal that is unattainable. That just results in disappointment every time. Then again I also haven't played a GT game since GT4, so it's been a long while.

I do hope they improve the sounds at least halfway up to par on what Forza has. Driving, racing, etc, is a very visceral experience. Sight and sound are all we can get through a console. Well, until we get smell-o-vision.

I would love nothing more than my room to smell like 110 octane.

The girlfriend may beg to differ!

But at least FM was sly about it, and a lot of their content was added or updated from 3 to 4. GT doesn't even try to hide their PS2 cars.

^Is that GT5?

GT6 standard cars don't look that shitty, they are much improved but still need work. I really wish they would cut the list of cars down, especially if they aren't going to put equal work into them.

I've enjoyed GT6 so far its got more of an up beat feel to it as opposed to GT5's feeling kind of flat to me. There aren't any retarded events in GT6 like in GT5 too (like racing a VW bus on the top gear test track). The shear amount of tracks is awesome.

In the end I like it still, they have some improvements to make still. If I had Xbox I'd play Forza and be happy too. GT and Forza are both great sims to me tackling the genre in two different ways.

Yeah, that's GT5. I own enough GT and don't plan on buying 6... or 7. Or probably any of them again. I really loved GT, but I'm over the flaws. I don't like a lot of little quirks that they still haven't worked out after 6 titles. They are a great simulator, but a terrible "game." Back when GT4 was out, and I put almost 1000 hours into it, there wasn't a lot of competition and it was by far the best racing game. Nowadays, there are a LOT of REALLY good racing games. GT isn't the only game in town, and if they want my money again, they'll have fix those little quirks for me. But even then, I'm probably too far gone. They burned their bridge with me after GT5, and Forza has been nothing but pleasure to play from 3 through 5.

Hardly 90%. Have to disagree. Only thing added from previous is only in terms of cars. The tracks are not port overs. And game play is just that, game play. It's GT's way of doing it. They all have a Grind. Just done in different ways.

As mentioned those were GT5 cars.
