Fair enough.

I will definitely be going FI, but sometimes this car surprises me in stock form, especially in slippery conditions, so I'd say 300whp seems like a good starting target goal.

ide love that much but its way more than Ide ever need. Ide likely kill myself with that much power to horse around with to be honest. I just want more power down low. If, probably never, I go FI it'll probably be a SC. Hoping there are kits more reliable than the Vortech that can make 260whp out of the box on 93oct in a few years.

240hp is fun.. But it's only good til 110mph then it starts struggling.

My previous set up on the m3 was 625hp and highway pulls are fun. It has no traction for low speeds.

I'm want 500whp on the BRZ

I already told myself I wont get anything bigger than a gtx3071 or gtx3076, im getting wider tires/built motor and axles before then though

And this is why they made the car 200hp from the factory. If they made it any higher and priced the car so cheap then a bunch of newbs would buy it and it'll all end up like this.

^Thats a shame. Whats the story behind it?

Toyobaru stated the power was limited for this RWD car to keep a lot more of the twins out of the recking yards. Smart move leaving it at 200hp, which some people still can't even handle. After 475whp you break traction on the rear tires to easily even with sticky 245's. I would say the limit you should build these cars to should be around 350-400whp, less than that if you are actually able to push the car to its limit, which some have trouble doing in stock form

I have to agree... having owed almost 50 cars of all flavors... 200 hp for this car is plenty for 90% of the buyers. The hardcore 10% will do the upgrades regardless; as they know the potential costs and issues. I would all also add that even as a geezer (over 60) I drive this car fairly hard; (thank goodness for an ECU that learns... :-) and compared to most other "true" sports cars (vs "super cars") it is just fine. If you want a super car, buy something else or be prepared to suffer the consequences of blown engines, broken drive trains etc. No offense to anyone, but based on 90% of the questions in this forum, the people asking the questions, should NOT be seriously considering more than stock hp. The remaining 10% are crazy F&*K's like me and have had 911's and Corvettes, etc., and have spent Lots of $$$$ on them, and know that your wallet is both your best friend / worst enemy. :-) (I could probably be president of a 3rd world country with the money I have spent on cars since I was the ripe old age of 16 years old). PS... I am still running stock HP... my upgrades so far are only cosmetic. (@ <2500 miles in 5 months)

Well its a bit of a conundrum, I drive my Prius, my business car which I will be replacing with the City version. But it just lacks a soul and character. I would say on the clock about 55% of driving the Prius is for business and the other 45% is for everything else.

So I would say buying an FRS or BRZ would be to make up for that 45%. I won't daily drive the Turbo because that's something I wish to own for 20-30 years. That and I've come close to wiping that sucker out a few times and insurance and what we refer to as "The Porsche Tax" can get ridiculous. It's almost like buying a whole new house in some states. But I guess having 500BHP in one vehicle, having 3/5ths that amount in another isn't that big of a deal?

I'm in the 240 - 260 hp range in being enough for a daily driver and occasional track weekend. But I'm in my 50 with a thirst for life; not in my 20's with a need for speed

... and by the way, the posting is in this forum because the car isn't going to get that much power without FI or opening up the engine entirely.

And the origins of this post was not a Rant, more of a philosophical rambling.

The perfect performance number is 1hp per 10lbs.
This car weighs 2,750 lbs so you need to have 275hp crank (approximately 225whp on this car)to meet that magic ratio.

For reference the 370z comes stock with that ratio and its a pretty fast car.
The wrx has 12lbs per 1hp.
Anything less than 10lbs per hp is a great car so that would be my goal.
