The RE-11A is where you want to go. Trust me. I've personally purchased virtually every tire listed here, and the PSS is not what it's hyped up to be.

It doesn't seem like Rain is a concern, so no need to get PSS or V12.

The RE-11A is reasonably priced for what it does too.
So which tires, all those you mention, would you recommend if rain is a factor? My city is known for its rain, better be safe than sorry. Thanks in advance

That seems like a bit of a blanket statement. I've never driven on a set of RE-11A's, however, have heard good things about them. With that being said, the PSS gets pretty solid reviews just about everywhere you look.

Very good grip (tons better than the V12's anyway), good in the rain and very respectable life out them them.

If I was a dedicated track guy, I'd probably look into other rubber but for the spirited daily driving I do in SFL and the very hard driving I do up north every year in the smoky mountains, the dragon and other surrounding roads, the PSS have been amazing for me.

What's the tradeoff if any going with an RE11 over a PSS?

What does what we are discussing or the suggestions people are making here have to do with fanboyism? Many people have had great experience with PSS'. Large groups of people don't suggest things like tires in large numbers unless there is something good about them.

Which is why I ask what's the tradeoff with RE11's (which I actually almost bought before my 1st set of PSS).

When it comes to most things car related, whether it's a set of coils, brake upgrades or in this case rubber, there is no one size fits all option. It all depends on the needs of that particular person.

Considering OP's needs/wants out of a tire, the PSS seem like the best option in my subjective opinion.

If not, I'd like to know why to see what I may be missing out on. But again, up until this point, I have no complains with the PSS. I've got stupid grip already, I'm having a hard time imagining having more.

If the RE11's are anything like the RS3's which I've ran for quite a while on track and on street, they are a much harsher, noisier ride. Along with reduced wear.

I have the PSS's on my street wheels and the RS3's on my track wheels. I prefer not to hoon around on the street with the rs3's as they are a bit obnoxious.

I had the PSS on my 400+ whp BMW and it worked very well for DD and 1/4 track, but I never Auto crossed in them so IDK.

It rains here often enough to where I couldn't go for stickier tires like the RE11s, plus I dailied the 135i so I wanted good lifespan. PSSs were awesome, great tread life and sticky enough to keep most of the power to the ground.

Slightly less life. A harsher ride, but also more feedback. Far more heat capacity, but slightly less grip when it's cold (under 45F) outside. Reduced rain grip when the tires are at 4/32" (less siping in the tread). Noise levels are about the same, and build quality is comparable.

Remember, Michelin spends FAR more money marketing the PSS, than Bridgestone does on the RE-11A. In fact, Bridgestone spends almost nothing.

It's similar to how BMW is Car and Driver's largest advertiser, in terms of dollars spent, and coincidentally, the 3 series is on Car and Driver's 10 best list every year...

What about the newer Michelin Pilot A/S 3? They are marketing it as a competitive summer tire that holds its own in the wet. And rated at 500 UTQG, so they should last much longer than the tires being discussed here. Sounds too good to be true, anyone have any experience?

I dont remember the source but they ranked the a/s 3 as having better dry grip than the continue DW which is a dedicated summer tire. I'm sure it's a great tire. Kinda ugly though.

Did you manage to hook them up on low speeds on straights ?

Mike, how bad is the wear difference between the RS3s and RE-11As? I was sold son the RE-11As, but found a good deal on new 245 RS3s and might bite if they arent that horrible wear-wise and are somewhat drivable in the rain.

Yea I had an easier time launching the 135 as I had the automatic but the tires definitely helped. Went from Eagle F1s to the PSSs

I have a couple of friends with 135's too, they run them but slap on semi slicks for the 1/4 and street racing from digs.

Bottom line is I love them lol
