The RE-11A is where you want to go. Trust me. I've personally purchased virtually every tire listed here, and the PSS is not what it's hyped up to be.

It doesn't seem like Rain is a concern, so no need to get PSS or V12.

The RE-11A is reasonably priced for what it does too.

I do agree, pss are not the grippiest, but as an overall tire i think they might be better. Plus he is located in socal so rain is not a major issue.
Meh i guess the inner fan boy of mpss always wants to let people try them

The PSS are a great tire, but they will never compare to a much stickier tire from compound alone. PSS are rated at 300tw, so you'll get more life out of them at the expense of grip.

All depends on where your priorities point to. My ZII's will easily last me two summers of daily driving, lapping and auto x and that's all I was hoping to get out of them. I do drive a lot too, my car has about 44k km's on it in 18 months.

RE11A better than RS3s?

For non-competitive use I'm liking my PS2s, which I think are similar to PSSs. They're good on the street and won't suck at the track even if they're not the grippiest.

Had Continental Sport Contact 2s before the PS2s - less grip but also good tires, and more fun to drive on - car rotates a little more while still sticking pretty well in the corners. Contis were also OK on the track but they did show a bit more wear than the PS2s.

PSS was good for me for a day or two on track, but after 4 track days, they're junk.

Heres a video on track; they were HOWLING; really fell off after just a few track days.

I want a dual purpose tire; something sticky that can be reasonably driven on the street and I can drive on to and from the events, and put down some respectable laps with.

I am going with the RE-11As next; I may go with the RS3's if I can find them, but won't be as good in the wet, and will probably wear a little faster.

I was just considering these for streetable track tires, but got some negative feedback in these forums. Then did a search and found this test that Hot Rod and Tire Rack did around TR's course, NT05 was last, by a long way. 1.5 seconds slower than the PSS.

ZII: 56.43
RS3: 56.9
Rival: 57.1
RT615K: 57.36
PSS: 57.79
RE-11: 57.98
NT05: 59.37

Maybe the NT05's hold up to heat better at the track (tread pattern would suggest that), but for initial grip, which is probably a lot more meaningful for street usage, they don't appear to be all that great compared to others.

I'm sorry, what happened in that video. All I saw was a MILF

Just seems like too much compromise on one side or the other to me. When I actually did auto-x seriously, my racing partner and I had 3 sets of track tires - one for flat courses, one for bumpy, and one for wet. Looking forward to trying out the PSS myself as I've suffered through one summer on the stock tires. My big decision will be wheels for this street only car.

Was running 235/40/17 BFG KDW2s on my SRT-4 and they had decent grip but were super noisy and they wouldn't hold traction in 3rd gear switched to a 225/45/17 Mich. PSS and had no road noise and now have traction in 3rd gear again. Very pleased with the PSS

Also the tread life is awesome, especially for a FWD that breaks traction often

I run RE-11As. I love them!

What would be better on the track if rain is a factor? (Rain or shine!) RE11As or PSS?

I had the BFG's on a car a while back and I agree, noisy, bad traction.

I switched to the PSS tires, and run them now on my BRZ and love them. Can't speak for any other tires.

Thanks for the awesome input guys. I'm looking for a street tire w some spirited driving in mind since I have a canyon on the way home on a few nights out of the week. Track days won't be happening w this car anymore as I think of it.

Nittos are great for my daily but want something that'll last longer and be just as good.the rain is scary for me now with the nittos paired w my vortech and other mods so some rain grip and grip as close or better than the nt05 with longer life is what I'm looking for.

I see many good things about the pss on here and in reviews all over the place. I took at the re11 but not sure if it's good for rain and the tw is the same as my nitto now.

For what I said about above the daily driving , non track use, spirited canyon driving and taking some fun turns, along w some better rain grip, would the pss be the choice over the others ?

I really appreciate the input everyone !

For "overall" use yes. For absolute grip, no.
