I was REALLY nervous about getting the matte finish but when my car arrived in November the Xpel installers met me at the dealership and put on a sample piece - and I was in love! I wanted the car to look like the preproduction models (which I think had actual satin white, while the production paint is not really satin). Of course now there is the extra benefit of the paint being protected.

I drove it to several Christmas parties last night... and found it looks really nice at night - it just glows Now we just need some sunny days so I can see how it looks in the sun!

Darn things like work and christmas parties getting in the way of photos and installing parts and such! My build thread here has some pics taken by the shop putting on the paint protection but they are just indoor in the shop with an iPhone.

I hope to install some stuff and take some pictures between christmas and new years as work should be very light then as many of our customers will be closed for the holiday period.

edit: I didn't put most of the shop photos here on FT86club because they are not that impressive (out of focus, just shop lighting, pics of a work in progress etc) but in sunlight and in person it looks amazing (retains the sparkle I love of the SWP but cuts all the reflection giving the car a soft sparkle look). Nice. I like the effect on the SWP.

I dunno why they didn't come up with this solution in the first place. Sounds great to me. which dealer did you take it to again?

Welcome to Austin. I just got here myself. I feel bad for the long time locals since lots of us keep invading. (but in this economy sometimes you don't really have a choice you have to go where the work is).


I remember when Seattle (where I am from) was cool but then everyone moved in, they tore out all the cool funky stuff to put in chain stores and expensive condos and the city completely lost its soul and became another mindless corporate city. Austin still has a soul and I really hope it keeps it!

Just saw a new '14 SWP BRZ limited in the "Village at Westlake" (shopping area near intersection of bee caves rd and 360) parked near the Mexican food place there. Based on the temp plate dates its only a month old. I didn't have time to investigate but it looked to have aftermarket exhaust (or maybe just tips) - everything else looked stock. LOL I would have mistaken it for my own if not for my paint protection. Anyone on here?

Invading? Well, we'll go ahead and let all ya'll stay for awhile and if you want to become naturalized Texans it's purty simple to do. If you like the taste of Lone Star or Shiner beer and are not offended by country western, conjunto or Stevie Ray Vaughn music then you are halfways there. The other requirement is to visit the Alamo and understand that we indigenous Texicans haven't, didn't and ain't gonna take no bull$hit from anyone. As a converted and naturalized Texan, you would be required to understand and defend "The Alamo" and what it stood for if something like it were to happen again someday from an enemy - foreign or domestic. Attending events like the open carry rally held Oct. 19th at the Alamo to defend our God given and 2nd Amendment rights to keep and bear arms would demonstrate that you have honorable intentions. Honorable intentions are a distinctive Texas trait. Part of the southern "Git er done" mentality. The "corporate mentality" you referred to is a real clear and present danger and Tyranny to those of us who are "awake". We need fellers like you who are not afraid to pull up roots and come here for freedoms and opportunities. That is the essence of being a true Texan Patriot and a modern day Defender of Liberty. We don't discriminate any in other way. Welcome to Texas!!!
