Once you have the Programming kit, have ProECU BRZ and RaceROM BRZ, then you can use it on yours and her car. You do not need to purchase the upgrade for another car.

Just to note: The software will be operated on a fair usage policy however if we feel you are using it on a commercial basis i.e. tuning lots of cars, then we will respectfully ask that you upgrade to the Commercial software. But this won’t apply in your case if you are just doing yours and your girlfriends car.

np I think there are some free ones, but I have Parallels on my work computer. That costs like 70 bucks though. There is a few people using macs though running EcuTek, I think using BootCamp or VirtualBox.

I'm one of those people that run EcuTek in my MBP using Parallels (Windows 7) and no problems at all ... I might try BootCamp soon though.

You can certainly use Parallels but it will be slower to tune. I imagine the USB functions get slowed down by the hypervisor. I wound up purchasing a cheapo Lenovo laptop purely for tuning.

@EcuTek thank you for the answer! I was hoping this was the case so I could do flex fuel on her car. That makes the 400$ upgrade extremely appealing to me since I really only need one cable! This makes it really cheap compared to other solutions I have used in the past! I'll be ordering on the first of the year.

For those with a MacBook... I have had zero issues over the past five or so years using a number of usb based of taste suites using a number of virtual software suites. I prefer parallels personally and have had little to no issues in the past. I haven't used ecutek for tuning but I have used it extensively for logging and analyzing a number of vehicles over the last few months and i can't tell any degradation that matters. Virtualbox hasn't been as smooth lately but parallels was just fine.

i would suggest parallels as well if you want to tune on a macbook. i use it with no issues. there are no concerns with speed, as that is far more dependent on the cable and software than whether or not it's on a vm. i get 20+params at 16fps or more using ssm3 with a tactrix cable through parallels.

Yep cable and USB port type I'd imagine would be more crucial to transfer speed. I have a crappy laptop just for tuning and when using the 3.0 port for the license key its a LOT faster to download a map than using the other 2.0 USB port.

I've used parallels for vag com, access tuner race and ecru flash .

0 issues.

Would much rather use my rmbp than a cheap pos laptop.

Just to clarify... I had zero issues using my MBP. Just noticed that loading the tune onto the car is about 1/3 the speed of the other laptop. Odd, yes. Unbearable, neh.

Granted. I have no frame of reference. But using ecuflash last week it didn't seem to take any extended amount of time relative to what I was expecting.

Pro tip: use bootcamp instead of parallels or any type of virtualization, and the load time is actually more than 2X faster than a regular PC. I tried it both ways.
