My advice: start saving money now for future track days haha. You will most likely be literally "hooked on driving" after this event, so it's best to prepare for the next year of track days that you'll want to do.

Also, what everyone else says, learning the line is the absolute most important thing to do on your first time out there, if you learn the correct line then speed will come. Also, listen to your coach, they are there to help. And lastly, be sure to follow your own line around the track, if the person in front of you is way off line, don't follow them, drive your own.

Great combination for your first track day. T-hill is super fun (its my favorite) and very safe (only 2 walls to hit, tons of run-off for any off-road excurisions ). Hooked on Driving has a very good program for beginners too, they start you off with a little bit of car control warm-up (figure 8 skid pad, slalom & threshold braking) then some coaching (although, from my experience, its hit or miss, have had both really good coaches who have T-hill as their home tracks to bad ones that just chat me up and have not been to the track in a while).

I think having a cool head and with an emphasis on the "learning" aspect of the experience, you should get you thru your first track day safely and successfully.

While on the track, know your surroundings and keep an eye out on what's happening on turns up ahead if possible.

Have fun out there and be safe!
^This. I don't time myself for this specific reason, since I know I will just get even worse/agressive/tense as I go. I just try to focus on my line, try clipping that apex closer, track out even farther, brake a little harder/later, practice my heel-toe, etc. Then I go back and watch my gopro footage, and time myself then. I usually find myself dropping my times bit by bit every lap.

Or of you're married, like me, you start saving up brownie points to cash out on another track day Good tip on the target fixation, I still find myself doing that. I found that if you keep your eyes up, like you're supposed to, you start driving you line again and be just "aware" of the car in front of you.

Watch Danica crashing. She'll try to hold the slide, and then before she hits, she takes her hands off the wheel. When the wheels hit the wall, it will throw the steering wheel to full lock, very quickly and can essentially rip your hands off.

I didn't do any events without an oil cooler but I posted some initial data here:

Oil cooler is absolutely recommended. I have RobiSpec Rad/Oil cooler kit, its awesome and my temp stays below 220F at all time compared to OEM running at 270F
