Funny you say valve train. The current setup is soft and does not support high revs. This was the first thing we found and fixed while specing the FA20. As far as cams we can feel a difference and can't wait to hit the dyno to see how much it changed. The porting should help the top end breath better as well. We wil get numbers out as soon

Toda's kit will be 2250cc

Kelford will have more parts coming out in 2014 too.

I've been crying out to see aftermarket cams for our engine! Hopefully a head and cam package can get this motor to see 220+whp na power!

Man... I would love to keep this car NA and have around 240-250whp. Probably will never be possible, but damn it I'll try

thing is the cost as to overbore it to 88mm would give you 2.1 ltr and could probably do it in the stock block and to get 2.2 you need to sleeve it to get a 90mm bore which is $900 of sleeves plus the machining cost $300 ?

so $1200 to get a 10% capacity / power increase

you're better off putitng the cash towards a supercharger

The only way I could see myself doing something like this would be if I were building a boosted engine. Bore and stroke it to 2.2/2.3l 10:1 compression, EFR 6758 in TS variety. 400 whp with full boost around 3-3.5k =D

Sometimes I hate being a tuner, as I have the ability and connections to get just about anything done to a car, yet I dont go nuts on spending money on my cars. Damn house fund! Hurry up and fill yourself!

You are lucky lol! This is my first car that is "tunable" with a tuning market and I have no connections to get anything done with this car. Took me a few weeks just to find a car lift to install some goodies. EFR sounds niiiiice

How much do you think it would cost to build this engine as you described, not including the turbo kit? Bore and stroke 2.3L, 10:1 comp..

I forget the number, but I worked out roughly how much it would make if the cams/head could flow enough to keep the torque curve flat until 8000rpm, and it was more than 220whp. Now if you also consider it will be making more torque than stock I don't think 230whp+ is out of the question with a good tune and supporting mods.

The formula for horsepower is (RPM * Tourque) / 5252. So, if cams/head work could say make 160 lbs. torque at 8000 rpm, that would be (8000 * 160) / 5252 = 243.7 whp. So if head work and cams can essentially hold peak torque for an extra 1000 rpms, we could make some serious power.

i need realiability, a supercharged add more things that can go wrong and we all know sooner or later something will happen. Can be a stupid leak or something more serious but it still need maintenance and i have zero knowledge and time to do it by myself. So I'll have to drop by in a shop to have them fix any problem arise and here where I live FA20 is not really known so not one shop tune them, they are probably more then able to fix any problem that can happen but is not that they work on supercharged/turboed gt86 everyday, so maybe will take time to figure it out etc.

Considering it hasnt been done before IDK. But once the rods / crank were available for the stroker kit, you would need to then go to sleeves so you could go to a higher bore, and get the higher bore / low compression pistons.

I would say it would be a bit more then a typical motor build. Probably 10 grand for a shop to do it for you. If you did head work it would be more I am guessing. With these parts being new it may be more though.

I wouldnt say I am lucky though.... Everything still costs money. Just because I save some still doesnt mean I can easily justify dropping 10-15k into a car that I still owe money on....

half of me thinks building the engine and staying n/a is stupid. i mean why not just put the money into FI and make real power? my car wasn't much fun with <250whp. then the other half of me remembers what my sister's s2k felt like n/a, and i want it lol.
