Oh and I know here it's illegal to honk your horn unless it's to alert another to avoid an accident. Hah On my motorcycles I never had time to "reach" for the horn button so I always revved. So I always had to have aftermarket exhaust! It's amazing how many people I could scare the crap out of that way lol |

Plain money issue for me. My TWO stop sign tickets at the SAME stop sign trump any honking at me.

How about from a different angle. You can turn right at a red light as long as there's no sign posted saying otherwise. For the most part you have to stop and look anyways, just to be safe, but there's plenty of instances where the line of sight is clear and no one is coming as you approach the light. Red light acts like a stop sign in this instance. Do you stop? Or keep on rolling since it's clear?

Personally I slow to less than 5mph and only make a full stop if someone is approaching/stopped at the same intersection. This is what I see from 100% of other drivers on the road as well.

Agreed. Same as driving 100 mph on a straight rd, ie Texas roads, for 50 miles.
Now are you breaking law? Are you endangering anyone? Is your car designed for it (pet peeve) Now let's put that to the cop as he has you handcuffed for being a super speeder, reckless endangerment, impounding your car. It gets to the point of "IS IT WORTH IT" In the eyes of the law, the letter of the law, YOU ARE SCREWED. You got caught. It is breaking the law. As a side note, I cruised the streets of Calgary at 100 mph, looking for a ticket. I was bored. It comes to the time honored phrase "STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES". Rant done. Nope. STOP does not Slightly Tap On Pedal, it means come to a complete stop, check your surroundings, proceed after right of way has been confirmed. I'd rather have the dude behind me honk than get: a) a ticket; or b) into an accident.

In my old manual gearbox car it wouldn't go into first without me coming to a complete stand-still so it became habit really.

I've notice people in the city tend to roll through stop signs and go when its not their turn. This drove me insane when it happened to me at the same 4-way intersection for 2 months straight, 90% of the time people in the suburbs come to a complete stop. I come to a complete stop because the one ticket i ever gotten since ive been driving was due to me not coming to a complete stop leaving a parking lot, because i was told that this wasn't illegal. The racist cop tried to say i was going 55 in a 45, when i saw his lights and was still accelerating i had only gotten up to 50. After arguing with him for a while he called me out for running the stop sign and said he was doing me a favor by citing me for speeding because it was less or some shit.

This. So much this. I rarely come to complete stops because I double, triple, fourple check both directions before advancing. I can usually do this with clear line of sight at 99% of stop signs encountered without coming to a complete stop. When you can see traffic 100 yards in either direction and the cars are moving at 35mph, it's not rocket surgery to safely approach and go without stopping.
