Get in car. Turn on front and rear window defrost. Clear snow to an inch or less on painted surfaces. At this point windows will have enough heat to clean off. Total time, less than 5 minutes and no scratches.

Understood about following the law and scraping off snow and ice but the paint will surely suffer. Rubbing snow and ice into your paint is like rubbing hard sand paper all over it. I just used a clay bar on my brand new BRZ and it needed it I can't imagine under those conditions for a car like the BRZ .
No it isn't like rubbing sand paper. As long as you don't press your snow removal device directly against the paint, you won't do any damage...

It only takes a few times to be able to learn to remove snow from your car quickly without touching or damaging your paint. Driving without removing the snow from your roof, hood, trunk just shows you are lazy as fuck.

Seems better than bristles, just don't push too hard

Any suggestions for a high quality soft brush? I refuse to buy one online without actually feeling it first, gonna go to the store and see if there are any good ones too.

As far as ice on the roof, I think I'll pour hot water on it to break it up atm. Couldn't find any suggestions on good ice removal tools

Here's what I do:

1) Buy cheap car with paint you don't care about.
2) Drive that in the winter so your baby doesn't suffer.

If you're afraid of using a winter brush on your paint, you probably shouldn't be driving in winter anyways with the salt, gravel, and sand they put down. Those will be far worse to your paint than the brush will ever be.

plan to drive it when its slushy and not that much snow on the ground. I want to keep the salt on the car to a minimal, dd my last ride 365 days a year and at the end of 4 years it has already develop some rust.

I probably won't have a chance to properly wash /wax it till spring time. I read that touchless carwash have pretty hard chemical to compensate for the no touching, will constantly running the car through touchless strip it of its wax protection and dull the paint?

If I were in a situation like this I would just buy a beater. Something that I wouldn't give a crap about.

Using a brush to remove snow from your vehicle in any manner is a recipe for paint disaster. Your surface is most likely dirty and the brush is abrasive (no matter how soft).
It's illegal in CT.

I think this is probably the real answer. Winter is tough on cars for more than just the cold and snow. In the end, it is only a $25k car. If you bought a brand new Camry, would you be stressing the swirls quite as much?

I get your point. Not stressing over swirls, would just rather take better care of my car wherever possible. I know the scratch/swirls are inevitable I'd just rather not do it on purpose

1. Remove snow off windshield
2. Do a donut
3. Proceed to your destination.

I bought a microfibre sponge that I use to gently get off the bulk of the snow from the body of the car and as much snow as i can from the windows. I make sure to leave a fine layer of snow between the sponge and the paint to avoid to contact and agitation of any dirt. I chose a microfibre sponge because its the softest material i could find in the event i accidentally touch the paint surface.

I always try to clear the bulk of the snow off before driving, I agree that it is disrespectful and possibly dangerous to leave all the snow on your car as you drive and let it blow on to other drivers behind you....But i don't want to damage my paint....

So i figured what I listed is a decent compromise

actually... I do... My Corolla kept very similar paint finish to four years later when I gave my sister the car.

I dont' live in an area in which winter affect the road condition too much... but some people do care about how their car and well.. for me... any item in my possession looks regardless of value. ( I'm just saying )

ps. two months after my sister received the Corolla, she back up the car into a co-worker's car, then a month after that incident, she ran the car against the rail coming off of the high way.
