Ethanol Free Gas

I went to a gas station in Lake Oswego that sells 100% Ethanol Free 92 Octane Fuel. I suggest anyone that is close to support this business. The guys love to talk about cars and it's only about .50 cents more per gallon to get rid of the ethanol in our engine.

It's a shame they are so few and far between. Most are at cardlocks. I posted about this one because of the people working there.

It's hard to find a good gas station these days. Had some punk slam everything on Bries WRX last week at the 212 to 205 chevron... Had to get out and set him straight on how to respect a car.

I must be the only person who doesn't care about crickets. I pretty much pump anywhere except Arco and Space Age.

ABSOFRIGINLUTELY!!!!

I have been putting ethanol free gas (I call it absolute gasoline) in my BRZ for a year. It has NO chirps from the HPFP, runs consistently with gobs of power (the car is FI), has no corn in the tank which turns to water when it sits, and is available locally. I thought, I would be an idiot not to use it (I thought). I was right!
I'll never go back!
Pete

Costco is so cheap and less than one block away so I go there. I like crickets now as it reminds me of camping.

Not available yet, and you may have to go to an airport to get it once it is, but I want some of this (posted it in Random Thoughts a few days ago)

Shell announced that it has developed a 100 Octane gasoline for "piston engines". Admittedly it's been developed for aviation (most small certified aircraft use 100LL fuel now, and the LL (low lead) needs to go away).

Still, its pure gasoline with no ethanol in it. And many of the same engines above are certified to run off premium "car gas". Makes you wonder....

Around the Olympia area there are a number of stations with ethanol-free gas like Acme Fuel and a couple other commercial downs. Pure-gas.com has a mobile app, too, which is pretty handy. I decided to switch to ethanol free for the winter only because it's about 33-43 cents more, but it's nice avoiding those god-awful winter blends.

That's still going to have a ton of additives that may not be the best for cars. Although our high compression engines may actually be an exception (since most aircraft engines are as well), I'd like to hear what Shell says before putting that in my tank. My dad's got an old Lycoming IO-540 in his Lancair he built that runs 100LL. He's been following the development of lead replacements, and most pilots have been extremely skeptical. You're looking at a situation in which many of them will simply opt for a fuel additive.

Booze-free gas in my car kills the crickets. I still think it's water content and cavitation.

Definitely agree on the additives, not to mention it will probably be something ridiculous like $10 per gallon.
