No media outlet to my knowledge nor fans alike have Ever touted Forza has having better physics or realism over the GT series. Did I mention Ever? Just saying. One opinion is that, an opinion. But a collective mass of people who say GT series has the closer interpretation of what it is to drive a real car is what's prevalent. Blows my mind how anyone thinks Forza is more realistic. More fun, sure if you like sitting and adding colors to cars all day long. But driving? lol...

I just picked up my copy of GT6 last night....I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but judging by the introductory video and classy jazz music...it's gonna be a close call

The AI on 6 is supposed to be somewhat improved but that is not a huge concern for me. I do time trials and race humans online. If you get in a game with a bunch of clean and skilled racers it is a great experience.

I agree the AI could be better, but I'm not sure that gimmicky AI avatar in Forza is what I would want. I think the majority of the avatars will drive like asshats, who try to bump you off the road instead of following any kind of driving line. GT6 actually went a step back on damage. I guess they didn't think it was important to add actual mechanical damage. Now you only get small degree of visual damage and nothing else. |

The damage in GT5 was minimal at best, and still only applied to some cars in some situations. Funny to see them even walk that back though.

I honestly don't know what the best way to implement damage is. I don't think ghost mode is the best since that makes other cars/players kind of irrelevant, but with real damage any hard collision should basically make the race end. That will actually award bad drivers/vengeful drivers and let them take out whoever they want. |

I felt the same thing. The double edge sword with Forza's approach is if you have crappy driving friends in your list. The AI is going to dive bomb, bumper car...etc. and not be a gentleman racer. As for damage in GT6, I feel the visual damage is pretty keen. Haven't experienced mechanical anywhere and being that mechanical was in GT5, perhaps they are re-working the damage system and will re-add it through an update (mechanical side of it anyway). |

In GT5 online you could turn the damage on (mechanical and visual) and race that way. Vengeful drivers or sloppy ones found themselves not finishing the race. However, it's more beneficial in races where you have plenty of laps and are able to pit your car (since pitting would fix it), and re-join the race and possibly have a decent finish. In short races though you were just SOL. Quote:

The Al drivers can be royal jerks, though. I had a damn 370Z ride straight up my tailpipe using NOS on the Mt Panorama downhill when I was 3 seconds ahead till he boosted... Final lap. Put me in 5th b/c he totally sent me into an uncontrolled spin. @$$hat AI! The key to damage mechanics and online is to find good rooms where clean driving is encouraged, but accidents are still forgiven (like you rear ending someone if they brake before you can get slowed, etc., or your setup isn't right for the course... like not enough braking sensitivity in the diff on the Matterhorn downhill...). I race with guys who are almost exclusively Norschlieffe drivers. It's one of the courses that, IMHO, never gets old. And these guys are fast. I got used to losing all the time, but it's a great way to get better. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

I found that almost all the Nurburg online races are with people who are clean driving. Because the Burg leaves little room for error, so if you screw up there, you might as well exit the race. So, I race a lot of Nurburg rooms and drift on other tracks when it comes to Online stuff. In Nurburg rooms, you can find the damage set to light since you can't pit till 7+min later due to track length. And light will give mechanical damage and after a few moments of a crappy driving car (broken gear box feeling), it will return to normal. But by that time you are 20+secs behind.
If you aren't much of an online racer, you should give it a try. |
