Thanks for the help, guys. I feel a lot better now. I was quite distraught there for about 20 minutes.

I'm going to put the underpanels on and go put about 40 miles on the new setup. See if any CELs get thrown. My set up is now:

Raceseng S2 kit, FA20Club CAI, Borla UEL, PLM over pipe, stock front pipe, Tomei 60R, and said mods from this thread. I have an OpenFlash Tablet, but I haven't even used it yet. Still trying to get a feel for the stock tune for comparison purposes later. So far, not a single CEL to date.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and it was definitely doing some wacky stuff while idling the first time I cranked it. Then again, that was also my first time disconnecting the battery, so not sure how much of it was the flywheel and how much of it was the reset ECU. It smoothed out after warming up though.

Impressive no CEL on the catless UEL. I wouldn't count on that one lasting though. Openflash that no problem!

You planning on ditching the stock front pipe with the Tomei one when it comes out?

Yes indeed. So much anticipation! My setup is AWESOME now, but then right smack in the middle of all the glory is that crazy looking factory front pipe. Breaks my balls every time I see it or think about it.

lol, when I took mine off, I looked at it again and said, "Yeah right"

Trash can.

I kept the stock catback though. That's valuable.

Lol talk about doing everything at once. You're lucky you didn't have to take all that shit off piece by piece.

There's a tiny window between the void to the left of 2nd and 4th where 2nd actually exists. Before I could go all the way left, then straight down and it would go into 2nd. Now I just have to go exactly straight down from 1st and it goes right in. Not sure if that's normal or not. Seems like it'll make my driving a lot sloppier unless I'm more precise than I've always been.

I just played with the lockout plate, and it doesn't really affect the ability to get into second. I even tried sliding it as far to the right as possible to block out R, 1, and 2, but was still able to get into them. You've just got to be spot damn on to get into 2nd now.

Maybe it'll change as it breaks in? Or maybe once the car's on the ground and I'm actually shifting and accelerating under load it'll feel more natural. With the car as is though, it's like a game at the fair. No giant stuffed animals for me just yet...
Things definitely felt bad when I was just fiddling with the shifter without everything being back together. Once I had it all reassembled and started the car, it all went smoothly together.

I've always hauled straight back while in first. It's 3rd to 2nd that I can overshoot the gate a bit and rely on the guides to slip the transmission into the 2nd gate. It's hard when the trans oil is still warming up, so I try and be gentle so as to not put additional strain on the sychros. But after a short while, it's all good.

It's not a big problem since I'm rarely in 2nd very long when I'm mostly driving freeway. By the time I really need 2nd, the car has warmed up sufficiently.

Alright, well I just got back from a drive through the country. Holy balls it's hard to hit 2nd from neutral. 3rd to 2nd is "more" difficult, but I don't think I missed it once.

Serious problem though: reverse lockout is now useless. I can totally put it in reverse without it, and found out the fun way. Uphill too.

Also, the dash no longer says what gear I'm in. I used to not care, but now I do since there's often doubt between R & 1 and 2 & 4. I suspect that's normal though for the short shifter?

What ss do you have? My kb ss works just fine. Can't enter reverse without using the lockout ring.

The dash used to say what gear you're in? Is that an FR-S only thing or am I missing out?

May have to turn it back on since you did the ECU reset.

Press the ODO/TRIP switch repeatedly until the setting screen is displayed.
Each time the switch is pressed and held, the display changes between on/off. "G-On" Display on "G-Off" Display off.
The key has to be in the ACC or OFF position for this to work by the way.

Ah. That might explain it.

Lockout plate needs to be adjusted in that case. All the way to the left, I believe. Multiple people have noticed that in their installs IIRC.
