But seriously, we should organize a drive/mountain run up the old 89 from Wickenburg to Prescott. I last did that in 2009 when I had my WRX, and was in a pack of 4 Subies (2 STIs and 2 WRXs) and we hauled ass up the mountain. My back end was skipping around corners and my VDC flashing constantly. Twas great fun.
This sounds like it would be fun. If you guys plan something out I am all in. We should try to do it.

Think 88 but with an uphill grade and if you go over the side you won't end up in a ditch but go off a steep, LONG drop (aka, DIE). Good news is that it's traveled often enough both ways that it keeps dirt and debris clear most of the time. Never seen a cop there, as there's pull off points which are few and far between.

I did nearly get smeared going there in 09, that is, the guys behind me were almost ready to hit 'send' on 911 when I avoided the collision. Was passing 2 tractor trailers (we were passing one at a time in a passing zone on the 74 to wickenburg) when a green pickup on the left side of the road (south side) poked its nose out to turn onto the highway and proceded to turn west (right) right into my lane.... I still can't remember how we avoided each other (my memory is an absolute blank for that... all I remember is right up to the avoidance maneuver and right after). But I was certain then that totaling my car was the least of my worries.

But that was on the 74 before we hit Wickenburg for a last gas stop before heading to the runup to the mountain. The mountain itself was lots of fun.

Just don't let an STI pace you there without you being turbo'd or SC'd with at least the same power to weight and torque to weight as the STI, otherwise he'll have the "haul ass" advantage over you, as well as the AWD advantage. But we could slaughter them stock on the downhill (which I wouldn't tackle without better brake pads and better brake fluid). For the drive, pace, don't race. Just like following brent on the 88: just keep up .

This is plenty cheap and has to raise your skill level. Not to mention how fun it would be.

Wait are you talking Yarnell hill or the spars? The spars are superb. I spent nearly 6 hours one weekend there. Yarnell hill is almost always patrolled now. Ask me why I know.

I have video proof of the leading officers speech about the new patrols especially on weekends. They have an anti-motorcycle squad but they will yank a car. They set traps for bikes and reel them in. They were offered unlimited over time in an attempt to lower motorcycle riders visits. They typically camp out at the top or bottom of the hill on slow days.

The hill is "okay" but i don't like how its nearly a reverse bank. The spars past the hill? Now thats a damn road.

There are two "parts" on the way. There is the Yarnell hill, which is a hill climb with large sweeping turns that ends in a small town. And then past skull valley there is a larger pass with more aggressive turns similar to 88. That road is passing through the white spars. It is very popular in the 2 wheeled community.

Ive heard of people just doing the Yarnell hill and heading back to phoenix. Such a waste!
