I've never cared for taking my vehicle to dealers for servicing, but obviously for warranty work it needs to be done. I do agree that we shouldn't expect the dealer to fix aftermarket problems. But, I don't see how the window popping, having crickets for a fuel pump, and problems shifting into 2nd sound related to any aftermarket items on the car. Certainly stumbling and idle problems could be blamed on aftermarket exhaust items.

I'm not that familiar with these cars, since I've only had mine a couple of weeks, but why would an aftermarket O2 sensor get put somewhere that hitting a pothole could damage it? Or, am I missing something obvious?

Unless you messed with the cats or the tune, a CBE is hardly going to cause anything but a little noise because back pressure is maintained by the cats 95%.

Sincerely,
A dude who knows techs are full of shit and warranty work is cheaped out on by dealerships.

Hello, Sorry it has been a while since i posted last.

There has been no change to the rough idle with my car. I returned it completely to stock for a week and there was no change in idle.

I want to address this post;

"1. It's impossible to disable the TPMS system. They didn't disable the system they deleted the code."

If that is true, then why is my TPMS light ot working?
I understand deleting the code, But why has it not returned?

"2. You had a rough idle before you went in. Your car was most likely damaged underneath before you brought it in, if it had the same rough idle before and after."

I took the car to the dealership to have the problem fixed! what part of that did you misread? Obviosly the rough idle is an issue.

3. If you're going to put aftermarket parts on your car, don't expect the dealership to spend time trying to fix it for free."

Even with stock parts on the car, the issues still exist.

The techs do not spend time fixing my car for free, Toyota's warranty program ays the dealership and the hourly fee for work.

And just because you are a tech does not neccesarily make you a good tech, the only issue I blame on my tech is smashing my wideband 02.

After the original post, we founn damage where my front bumper had been scrapd pretty bad. My car is at stock height and not once have I knowingly bottomed the front bumper out.

I still beleive the dealership broke my wideband and caused an exhaust leak i had to fix.
Now i am hoping a tune will fix the rough idle.

Listen man, I didn't mean to come off as a **** I'm just trying to explain a little bit.

1. The light is out because the code is deleted, if there is nothing wrong with your TPMS there's no reason for the light to come on. Are your sensors currently installed on the car?

2/3. I understand you brought it in for that issue, but if you bring it in with aftermarket intake/exhaust and a wideband what do you expect them to do?

Yes toyotas warranty program pays the dealership, but only if we actually fix something. We don't get any time for looking at your car for a rough idle unless we fix something or if we record a bunch of things we did to attempt to diagnose. 90% of the time Toyota won't pay us anything unless we perform a repair.

Onto your rough idle issue, did you remove and seal up the wideband?

The only thing aftermarket on the car when i took it in was the wideband, Which should not cause a rough idle. After removing the wideband and sealing the bung plus resetting the ECU, it still idles rough. It has been over 500 miles. I am not an idiot, and I know plenty about automobiles.
I didnt take it in with aftermarket parts knowing that they would blame it on them, I did half the time too when I worked for Toyota.

And since apparently you are not reading my posts..... I have aftermarket wheels on without sensors and I have no TPMS light on. It makes absolutey no sense.

Do you park near your stock wheels at home? Do your stock wheels still have the TPMS w/tires installed with proper air pressure? Is your commute less than 25 miles one way?

Totally agree. Please note we get paid on the job. We can't just can't warranty parts . Cause when parts are sent back to the company and they determine it was caused by after market parts they bounce the claim and the dealer gets charged. Any signs of aftermarket interference that can cause a problem will make the dealer think twice.

Tpms cannot be disabled. The sensors are asleep when the car comes from port. When the pressures are drop and set they wake up. If they're was something wrong with your sensors they would be s flashing light in the dash.

I'm not standing up for your dealer but I'm sure you didn't let the dealer know you had a intake which you remove before bringing it in.

Another amazing post added by someone who thinks adding a bung and another sensor for safety would cause damage. Even so, let's rule out exhaust and dig in a little here. We are arguing about retarded warranty issues instead of helping out a fellow board member. Sorry, but when you join a community, even as a tech, you are here as a comrade. So stop this, "I am a tech" bullshit.

Number two: when he raised his idle, his problems went away. That sounds like cam related issues which a bung (or other parts etc) would not cause.

Maverick, get your cam related parts checked out man. Sounds like you might be on the edge of catastrophe.
