That's the NAFTA part. Made in USA=no import duties. Subaru=import duties. Something like that.

It's usually still worth it for specialty import cars.

Go to Subaru Canada's website and compare WRX pricing. Then laugh/pity the Canadian buyers.

It wouldn't be a Mustang anymore without a V8 option. And I'm willing to bet that even if they did offer, say, a turbo 4 with 300 horsepower, the V8 would still be at the top for those who want to purchase the car for the most power. It's not extremely cheap, but you can fairly easily make 600-700 horsepower with a blown 5.0. It'll take probably a complete rebuild to do that on a 4cyl.

They are cheap power. Even though the price is going up, it's going up on everything. Think about what you just said for a second. 400 horsepower for about 35 grand. Who else, other than the muscle cars, offers that with a brand new car?

I wasn't saying ditch the V8. I was just advocating for a lesser option.

An America without V8 engines is like cream cheese with no bagel, peanut better with no jelly, Simon but not Garfunkel, etc.

The more I think about a 3000-3200 lbs. mustang the more I like the idea.

If it was good enough, I'd probably consider trading in for one honestly...

Even if the base model would be able to pull off 3000-3200 lbs for the current 300 hp v6 (which already beats the fr-s in benchmarks), that's a pretty good deal for 24k. Although, if I got a Mustang I'd get the v8 for sure

I'm just not that convinced they can pull off ~3000 lbs. I'm not counting on it until I see it.

I had a 5.0 and it is easy to make NA 500 HP. Imagine that in a 3100 lbs car.

2015 Ford Mustang Trots Out Early, See the First Pictures [HD Gallery Update]

Quote:
As if anyone doubted that the all-new 2015 Ford Mustang would remain under wraps until its official reveal date of December 5 at 12:01 am… Since the Blue Oval's press department kindly shared around photos of the sixth generation Mustang to Autoweek, which were then obtained by Mustang6g – as it turns out, the source was SVTperformance, were bound to leak and here we are.

The new Mustang's evolved shape won't come to a surprise if you've been following the news, scoops and renderings – we gave you a pretty close preview of the car back in October last year.

Ford believes this new design, which comes on the 50th anniversary of its pony car series, retains most of the styling elements of its predecessor while adding a fresher and more modern tone to the lineup, and in the process, making it more acceptable on a global basis. In other words, precisely what GM did with the fifth generation Camaro in 2009.

While we wait for more information and/or photos, do check the photo scans below and share you initial impressions.

2015 Ford Mustang leaked in Autoweek

Quote:
We would have to imagine that Ford knew it couldn't keep its 2015 Mustang under wraps for too long, and with only days to go before the pony car's official unveiling, the dam seems to be cracking. SVTPerformance.com member Screamin 40th just posted some images taken of the sixth-gen Mustang prominently featured in and on the cover of the December 9 issue of Autoweek magazine.

These images show that recent renderings we saw weren't too far off. The face is just like what we saw in spy shots a few months back, but the rear of the car features some of its more striking cues. Starting with the pronounced haunches and hidden B-pillars, the rear view of the new Mustang might be its best with the ridged, three-bar taillights, a rear diffuser and the lack of a faux gas cap, which allows the galloping pony to be an even more prominent element against the black trim. The images also reveal a small portion of the updated interior carrying over retro themes like the deep-dish steering wheel and dual-gauge instrument cluster, but it also adds some modern tech with a big MyFord Touch display with a clean center stack layout.

No official word on powertrain or other specs, but while we can't make out most of the magazine's text, our eyes did catch the mention of a "2.3 Performance Pack" suggesting that the rumored 2.3-liter, turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder will be available. In terms of performance, the Mustang GT will still offer the 5.0-liter V8, and the article reads that the 2015 GT with the Performance package will actually be faster on the track than the Boss 302. Some other interesting tidbits about the new Mustang are the standard push-button starter, the availability of adaptive cruise control, an independent rear suspension, a 200-pound weight reduction (that at least somewhat will be afforded by using aluminum front fenders) and a wheelbase that measures the same 107.1 inches as the current design.

As the Mustang looks to go global, Ford expects about 10 percent of this car's volume to come from outside the US and Canada, and it appears that the only change for its role in One Ford is that the LED taillights will not be offered with a sequential turn signal outside of North America.

The car looks OK but they would have had to drop 500LBs instead of 200LBs to get me to seriously consider owning another Mustang. I owned a 1967 fastback and a 1994 Mustang GT in the past.

Its decent. But I'm disappointed it only dropped 200 pounds and the dimensions didn't shrink like they were promising.

Definitely better than the Evos concept that started this thread. At least this one is recognizable as a Mustang. I suspect I'll end up with one of this generation in my garage at some point.
