A gas line on the street (especially in a commercial area) would not be openly exposed without some type of metal brace/pole around it for impact protection.

Your house gas line =/= what you find next to a street.

This is pretty much the reason why I don't attend car meets or shows anymore. Not enough self-governance among enthusiasts to control their emotions, even at a memorial.

Just takes one person to rev to incite the rest to do the same.

"Oh, we're doing this burnout in honor of Paul Walker..."

Frankly if I was the guy hosting the meet, I'd have the drive end up at the Salvation Army or some other local charity (with a stop at a toy store along the way) to drop off tons of toys. That's what his last act was, hosting a meet for toy donations, and that's what ALL memorial drives in Paul Walker's name should be.

I think the meet was for Phillepines charity for their disaster. I will be donating to it

Written by RZA, performed by some white guy. It's NOT rap for those who don't appreciate that style of music.

Has anybody else noticed the similarities between Paul Walker and James Dean?

Both were very good looking movie stars/petrol heads. Both passed away in convertible Porsches.

So there was a huge meet last night in honor of him at a local mall in my area. Well over 500+ cars. I 100% felt like i was in a F&F movie. I was pulling up to the 2nd garage parking lot and when my car started to level itself out and i saw all the smoke and people my jaw dropped. It was like that scene in F&F1 when they are about to street race but in a garage. No other car meet will ever be on the same level as that. From other parts of the mall there were drifting events, drag racing and other stuff. Riot police even had to show up.

The two outside lots were almost filled and the 3 level garage was filled.

I understand the reason for people wanting to do meets or cruises and stuff like that. It's nice to be connected to others who are sad or are mourning the same reason you are. The problem is that there are too many immature people who take advantage of events like this and try to use it to justify bad actions/judgment.

If you want to honor him or show your respects, I say the best way to do that is to honor his legacy and donate to his foundation Reach Out WorldWide.

https://www.facebook.com/reachoutworldwide
roww.org

He put his heart and soul into that foundation and by contributing and helping it grow, you are helping his dreams/goals come true.

in this article a comment says that was a water line and not a gas line, however even if the car didn't engulfed in flames, the wreck was way too hard to survive...
That doesn't explain what caused the pressurized gasoline to ignite such that it stayed burning, though. Usually it's the gasoline vapors or atomized fuel where the major danger lies. So, what caused the fuel to ignite? Sparks from the light pole as the heavy object struck it at high speed?

the meet would of gone on but every sunday there are trucks that meet at the bottom floor and ride there dirdtbikes/quads around so i guess they got mad ans started to cause trouble and thats when the cops came. If they were never there it would of gone on for more then 30 mins lol

usually when fuel line brokes make the vapors and the fuel contact to hot as hell engine parts, and this is very easy to ignite flames...
considering that the fuel tank was wrecked, it's possible that a big part of the carrera GT was covered with fuel, and so it takes just a little to blow up all...

Fair enough. It's just that there have been some really nasty wrecks where the fuel was leaking and it was minutes from impact to the car going up in flames.

I guess this one was simply unfortunate in that respect... not that it would have done either occupant any good if there'd been a delay, as the impact was fatal.
