I have varied taste, almost everything discovered on You-Tube over the years:

1) Instrumental guitar/rock, favorite artists would be Eric Johnson, Paul Gilbert, and Jeff Beck. Jeff Beck would be my favorite artist of this bunch because of his musicality and ability for creating complex sound and emotion out of simple melodies.

First song:Jeff Beck - Who Else - What Mama Said

Favorite song: Jeff Beck - Angel Footsteps
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdCGdL3R0n0"]Jeff Beck - Angel (Footsteps) (Live at Ronnie Scott's) - YouTube[/ame]

2) Christian rock groups consisting of Flyleaf, Skillet, and Fireflight. Flyleaf is without question my most favorite of the 3, and Lacey Sturm is one of my most favorite female vocalists ever, her leaving the group is missed.

First song heard:Flyleaf - Flyleaf - I'm so Sick

Favorite Song: Flyleaf - New Horizons - Cage on the Ground
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ffr18nA2E3o"]Flyleaf - Cage On The Ground [NEW Album 2012] - YouTube[/ame]

3) Different, distinct female vocalists who push the sonic envelope...a la Annette Stren (of Venus Hum) and Imogen Heap (Frou Frou). Will have to go with Annette Stren, first saw her in a televised Blue Man Group concert...and was mesmerized by that voice!

First Song: Venus Hum/Blue Man Group - I Feel Love (cover)

Favorite Song: Venus Hum - Big Beautiful Sky - Bella Luna
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uaq9L0v9aYA"]16 - Venus Hum live - Bella Luna.avi - YouTube[/ame]

4) Heavy Bass/Electronica groups, specifically artists like Pendulum, Blue Stahli, and Trentemoller. Something very special about Trentemoller electronica...just found him recommended on a forum, heard tracks on Youtube, and had to hunt down the CD. The CD is almost SACD quality as well...incredibly well mastered.

First song heard: Trentemoller - The Last Resort - Vamp

Favorite song:Trentemoller - The Last Resort - Always something better
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV83poF20q4"]Trentemøller - Always something better [HQ] - YouTube[/ame]

5) Japanese vocal artists like Riyu Kosaka, Shinohara Tomoe, Mell, and
Riyu Kosaka (the older, original image one) is my favorite due to her forward yet still melodic and powerful voice. I first heard her when watching the anime Claymore - she sings the ending song. She remade her image a few years back (like looks and everything) and went lighthearted J-pop...uggg...

First song heard: Riyu Kosaka - Danzai no Hana (Claymore anime ending)

Favorite song: Riyu Kosaka - Begin (Start at 1:25...long intro...)
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDahewI4TLM"]Riyu's Summer Vacation pt.17. - YouTube[/ame]

6) Japanese AI singing software entities developed by Yamaha known as Vocaloids, personified as Miku Hatsune and others. Miku Hatsune is the only one I truly care about...was looking at anime videos on youtube and came across a link which led to my Miku obsession....

First song heard: Miku Hatsune - World is Mine

Favorite song:Miku Hatsune - Vocaryhthm - Sunset Slope

I, too hate shallow narcissist rap, as well as that other homogenized brown note music that gets played on top 10 radio stations (i.e. amp radio). But here's what I like:

1. Godspeed You! Black Emperor (post-rock)
2. I have no idea. I listen by the album/mix.
3. I started getting into post-rock music and must have come across this while listening to Youtube mixes.
4. Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada. It's an EP, but it's best when you listen to it as a whole. It's only two songs. It's great for cynical types like myself. This and Dark Side of the Moon are my favorite albums.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2c9TyeKnGGk"]Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Slow Riot for New Zerø Kanada - YouTube[/ame]

1. Bonobo (electronic jazz)
2. Kiara.
3. I first heard it on Sleeping Dogs and liked it enough to search for it.
4. They're all good. I have to listen to this on my commutes to keep me from going insane due to the traffic.

1. Daturah (post-rock)
2. Hybrisma
3. I first heard it on a YouTube mix.
4. Either Hybrisma or Deep B Flat.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZzi_eIpMss"]Daturah - Deep B Flat - YouTube[/ame]

1. Ulrich Schnauss (indietronic)
2. Monday Paracetamol
3. It was on a Tiger Woods game for the PSP.
4. They're all good.

1. Store N Forward (trance)
2. Manga
3. First heard it on A State of Trance 475. This was the only good song on that broadcast.
4. Manga. This song reminds me of when A State of Trance stuck with true trance music, before it was flooded with remixes of shitty pop songs.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDg9zucc4uo"]Store n Forward - Manga - YouTube[/ame]

1. Wolfmother (Metal)
2. Joker and the Thief
3. I found this song on NFS Carbon on PSP and immediately got hooked on Wolfmother.
4. Joker and the Thief
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySjXFjLTagQ"]Wolfmother - Joker and the Thief - YouTube[/ame]

1. The Cinematic Orchestra (jazz)
2. I don't know
3. I heard it on Spotify
4. The Man with the Movie Camera

I like a lot of genres. I'd say my favorite music is probably classical/instrumentals but I still listen to rock, rap, pop, etc.

As far as songs I am partial to sad themed songs (no emo) I really like Fast Car by Tracy Chapman

Haha I like disturbed, helps me reminisce. My friends dad used to listen to it when he drove us to school. He always drove like a **** and almost rear ended someone listening to down with the sickness.
