Yeah & the cost of ECUTek is what will keep me from ever using them. They're too expensive. Nearly $800-900 for just a license & cable & no ots basemaps is sheer highway robbery & shouldn't be tolerated. I'll pay money to the tuner & not an outrageous sum just for the "permission" to get it tuned.

If you think Subaru tuning is expensive you should look at what the GTR, Porsche, and other Euro guys are paying for tunes. You'd change your mind real fast about what's expensive

If you choose to so with our rental option and just rent a cable you're only in for $675, which is a damn good price for a full on custom tune with the best software out right now for the platform. |

![]() And yes, everything is expensive for the upscale stuff, hard parts, tuning, service, etc. We have a local GTR guy that just paid $3600 for an oil cooler (from another company)

As a COBB dealer I'm a little pissed that they haven't bothered with this chassis

Ecutek business model is garbage. I still can't believe shit like that still exist. We need more open source tuners like OpenFlash Tablet.
No end user access. What the shit is that?! Only a matter of time that junk will go outta style; if not already since OFT has arrived.

When I bought spark plug wires for my 944 I couldn't find a set for less than $125. That's $25 each for 4 spark plug wires plus distributor wire. Not even OEM, just replacement. You can get a set of plug wires for a ford V8 for $25. Same materials, same quality, trivially different hoods for the spark plugs. It is unequivocally a ripoff. The tuning options for our cars and for DSMs and Hondas are functionally equivalent. It's the same deal. We're just bigger suckers.

Obviously, the vendors selling similar products for a GTR at 5x the cost (or however much) are making more profit per sale, which does make the consumers the suckers, sure. The vendors do this due to the smaller volume of products sold. Between overhead costs and R&D, sometimes this is necessary... other times, it's price gouging. At the end of the day though, a product is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it.

The car has only been out for a little over a year. What do you expect?
Give it some time. The OFT is pretty cheap for what it is if you ask me, and well worth the $515 I spent on it. The only option for FI applications right now might be ECUtek, but I'm willing to bet that there will be more options available in a few years from now.
