Swirls/straight scratches

Ok. When I purchased this car I had no intentions on changing the way I clean a vehicle. I had a cobalt prior to the frs. But the paint never did what my frs is doing. I clean my vehicle in a back and forth motion. No rotating with the detail cloth or anything like that. So most of my "swirls" are in a straight line.

Like all swirls and such, most cannot be seen unless the sub hits it right. I noticed it the other day at work. It's crazy the amount of "swirls" my paint has. In the shade or on a different angle in the sun where swirls can't be seen, the paint looks great. However at the right angle it's rediculous. How can I get this mess removed and what can I do to prevent this from further happening. Very frustrating

Paint correction to remove the swirls. Then change your wash methods to reduce the chance of getting them back in the future. 2 bucket method with grit guards and good micro fiber wash mits and towels.

That's about all you can do slow down the swirls, from what I'm told it is inevitable. You can slow down the process by the 2 bucket method, and when it gets worse have it color corrected as mentioned by a detailer. I have light swirl marks from the dealer, I'll prob get it detailed after the winter.

Here's a good example how to properly wash the car:

I realized when I got this car that simple side to side or circular isn't good for this car because the curves highlight any scratch not following the natural body lines of the car. When I wash the car (2 bucket method) I do my best to follow the curves of the car so any scratches are less noticeable. You may want to try the foam guns as they're supposed to lift any dirt off the car, giving less chances for a scratch.

Below is a related thread about polishing out scratches.
