Looks really good. I've never been a fan of white wheels on a black car but it pulls it off really well. I might just do it to mine since I have some extra white plasti dip and am keeping the stock wheels for drift spares anyways

Finally got around to doing this last sunday. I didn't mask off the tires, so there's some overspray I'll have to get off. Very happy though. Took 3 cans of gold, 0.5 cans of glossifier.

I think I'll peel off the center caps...

Plasti dip is a good alternative for those who want to have a more distinctive look for their wheels. And like Raven said lowering it and pushing it out with spacers really make a world of difference without hurting your pockets.

Help on stock rims

Hey guys, I want to paint my stock rims white. Any suggestions on how to do a great job on it? I'm not sure if there's a specific way other than just painting over them white

I would suggest using plastidip. I think once you see your wheels in white you will remember it's not 1993 and you might not like the way it looks.

From what I've read on our forum plastidip seems pretty popular. And, I like the idea of white. They should look nice on your firestorm.

Just use plastidip so u can change the color later if you don't like it. We have used plastidip on the racetrack without any problems.

But is it hard to maintain white plasti dip? I plasti dipped my wheels black and I can never seem to clean them well enough and with the weather here in San Diego, the sun kinda faded my black plasti dip. I've been really thinking about white for a while as a base color because like you said, if I want to change the color I can just plasti dip them. But I just don't want to redo my plasti dip cuz it starts peeling after a while.

If you are wondering how they look like in white...

Would advice you to do first a silver base-plastidip before putting on the white plastidip.
I didn't do it and the endresult isn't that good.
Did 4 layers/wheel and still the black comes trough (but that could be just me, I'm not that great with rattlecans)
Also mask off your tires, it will peel off but it takes a long time to do so (and very painfull fingers)

How it looks on the car

I RECOMMEND TRYING PLASTIDIP FIRST.. it can be removed. It can also be your trial-and-error paint job. Just clean and dry the wheels real well first.

At first I tried plastidip and made it look really good. But, it holds dirt a little more and is not near as durable as paint...and that's with 4 light/medium coats.

I finally peeled the stuff off and went with Duplicolor wheel paint...3 coats of matte(I used black)paint and 2 matte clear. Total process took about 4-5 hours taking my time and it looks oem. Then again I've painted 6-7 sets of wheels this way and I get better every time.

-Make sure temp is between 60-80 deg. Low humidity
-Remove and wash wheels; first spray with 409 or some mild degreaser. Then use a strong soapy solution of dish detergent and scrub the wheels well.
-Let wheels dry
-(point of no return if using paint)Scuff-sand wheels with red scotch-brite pad(sticks much better). The pads are softer and contour to the surface much better than sand paper.
-Wash wheels again
-Let them dry
-Lay them on plastic or cardboard(preferably in a garage with door up for ventilation and low breeze) and tuck 3x5 index cards in the tire/wheel gap all the way around so paint doesn't get on the tires.
-Now, how you apply it is all on you. It's real easy to mess up. Take your time. I did two light coats and one medium coat of paint and two of clear for good coverage and durability. It's also good to use the pistol grip adapter for spray cans...less fatigue.

Plasti dip to me is seriously being out played... If you know how to spray paint or have a paint gun. Just paint them.. I have my painted white and I have a white FR-S. Took me about 15 hours to sand all 4 wheels clean, prep, and paint. No base coat just went straight white. No black comes through at all. If you want a pic i can upload them. Ive use plasti dip on rims before as well as bumpers etc etc.. Not really a fan if looking for something "long term" Started fading realllly bad.. Looks VERY Cheap after a couple months. Everytime i washed the rims i felt like I was going to peal off the plasti dip lol.. Don't know if that was just me being to careful or what..
