I would say the words "pretty early" are debateable. There is a reason that nearly every forced induction car and the majority of tuned BRZ/FR-S are running EcuTek currently. Those guys were in the game the earliest with a product that worked. I also agree that I don't see any reason to beg Cobb to please take my money and make this product when the OpenFlash Tablet is now available.

This is excellent news. I would love to be one of the first to try the OFT on the S65. I am buying mine used out of Cali with a 91 octane Mike Benvo tune on it.

More tuning support both for Pro-tuners and end-users. Cobb has a very long, proven record, of being a good product both on the hardware and software side of things. The software itself is able to do more from a tuning side of things (depending on the platform), full datalogging, etc. Most tuners like the ability to tune and keep their intellectual property from being "free", so the support from the tuning community is quite vast. Better product overall IMO. -Tristan Last edited by Circuit Motorsports; 11-19-2013 at 12:26 AM. |

Cobb Accessport for BRZ/FRS
Only thing is ld like from ecutek is a similar hand held tuner, the new Access port is pretty impressive as it provides a lot of useful info with a proper laid out screen

It's very public knowledge on here what the OFT can, and can't, do. I was just offering my insight and opinion, so, I'm not looking to start a dispute, or throw dirt around Quote:

redacted in hopes that Circuit Motorsports will respond to shiv instead of me.
I'd personally love to see Circuit Motorsports support Openflash and maybe help me find a pro tuner in Orlando

Tristan,
Just curious, what exactly do u think the OFT is lacking at this time? Besides the ability to allow tuners to lock their map from the user, how is the hypothetical Cobb AP "a better product" in your opinion? We are always looking for ways to improve our product so such feedback would be very welcome. |

I came from the Evo X community and the Cobb AP in looked down upon by many. When tuning the X you can get a much better tune going opensource then Cobb. Cobb is still behind the curve with the X cause developers keep bringing up new maps and options with opensource. (ie RAX patch and Tephra Mod if anyone if familiar with the X)
Also recent Cobb maps for the X have had to much timing in the top end and have shown considerable knock (10-13 counts) Personally I recommend Cobb to the people who want 'User friendly' and Opensource to the more savvy who want the best possible tune.

OFT seams to be the best of both worlds as the problem with Opensource is bricking the ECU with a improper ROM. OFT prevents this and still allows Opensource tuning.
Cobb maps for the Evo and STi IMO leave a lot to be desired.
