I want to do a 2j/6spd build in my frs for the tx2k event too. It would be a great setup I think due to myself wanting to go fast in the straight line and on the highway. Also they have began to start production on billet 2j blocks
has anyone seen if the mk4 rear will fit on the frs? Would be the best combo with the drivetrain I believe. Only other thing would be traction we need to fit some decent wide wheels out back and boost by gear would also benefit! A lot of good things I see, I also like the idea of a lsx but I would choose the 2j anyday personally

Very interested to see how you go with this.
I'm about to secure an 86 rolling shell with the intentions of building a dedicated drift car and depending on how difficult this could be, I'm also considering a 2JZ swap. Best of luck and keep posting! Well and truly subscribed.

2JZ more powerful than an LSX stock? Not a chance. A 2JZ stock is only pushing ~320hp in its most powerful form (twin turbo), while a stock LS2 is 400, an LS7 is 500, and a crate LSX can be had that will do as high as 750hp or so (but all naturally aspirated). (Admittedly, that 750hp crate LSX wouldn't exactly be the motor of choice for something like this, since it's $18k and requires 110 octane race gas) |

I do agree with the edited post - either motor is more than capable of producing far more power than you would ever want or need in this platform (unless you're building a dedicated drag car).

I'm still debating which platform I'll be going with when I decide to get rid of the FA20+turbo setup I'm running now. An LS2 would just be too easy for cost, reliability and proper power. I'm thinking ~450whp would be the max I'd go for. That would get low 10's in the 1/4 and would be an excellent reliable drifter. Plus you get to tell people you have a V8 in your traditional tiny 4 banger.
