UPDATE: 2jz Build

So I made a post that I was going with a 2jz build and I just nabbed my first sponsor. The shop that did all of my work on my GTR is going to sponsor me on the build and I get some AMAZING deals :)

I just can't wait until it is finish. Our timeframe is to have the motor and tranny in by October and boosted on a 6266 setup by Christmas. All goes well TX2k shall be fun and I am going to see how this lightweight car stacks up with a few of my GTR buddies.

Project "Lil Supra" is underway

YAHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What shop built your GTR? Looks like you're also in San Antonio, I'd definitely like to see your build when it's done!

What tranny are you gonna use?

Very nice, my shop wanted to do a 2jz swap, would of been cheaper than most turbo kits.

Probably. But a turbo or supercharger kit would keep the low centre of gravity and light weight of the FA20.

Depends on what you want. The FA20 will never be able to reach the amount of power potential the 2JZ has. But the 2JZ will take away the lightweight playfulness and controllability of this car's rear end. It's quite a heavy engine. It's bulletproof reliability comes at the cost of it's cast iron block weighing it down.

I used to have a MKIV Supra and I remember it was an absolute handful in the wet. Crazy fun in the dry though.

do you know the weights of either? i mean i'd only imagine a turbo or s/c FA20 is maybe 50 lbs less than a turbo 2jz

this is like comparing a 150 lb driver to a 180 lb driver.. what's the difference

This is very true. I am holding out hope that the controllability wont be that much affected. If needed I can make suspension adjustments to try to balance out the added weight the engine would add. And if Max Tuerck can get this car to be a drift monster I am pretty sure I can balance it out to what I need (hopeful).

But I know at the end of the day this car will be mostly straight fun but I want to try to retain some of the fun. I want to drive the car with the motor and see how it will feel. We shall see soon :)

Turbo BRZ and MKIV owner and I wanted to build one of these just for TX2K. Make it happen, and if the shop wants to outsource the wiring harness then I know an awesome place.
