Throttle Response when Rev Matching

Hello Everyone,
So I've had my frs for almost a year (9000 miles) and noticed that my throttle response when down shift rev matching has some sort of lag to it. Basically when I try to blip my throttle for some reason it doesn't give it enough rpm to match the revs. I've read countless threads on rev matching and everyone is saying all it takes it a "quick" blip. I usually come across the problem when I need to downshift rev match at a high rpm. I'm not sure if I should be worried about the throttle response and bring it in but its the thing where I'm not sure if its an actual problem with just my car or others. I really hope you guys can help me out here thanks!

If you are rev matching and the next gear is going to be close to redline you have to press the throttle hard.

So do you mean by press throttle harder I have to not "blip" the throttle quick but get the blip to where it should be by pressing it harder/longer? Because everyone always says that a "blip" is all you need in down shift rev matching and everyone is always saying how it's always a quick blip. Probably I'm being misinformed by all the threads and comments I've been reading

If I'm just driving normal it is a quick blip. if I'm redlining a gear, then hard on the brakes and down shifting at about 5k RPM I have to press the throttle quite aggressively to get the revs over 6k for the next (lower) gear. In terms of time I would say it is "quick" but you have to really put your foot into it.

Interesting, yea cause I've tried to rev match by really pressing on the gas pedal hard(all the way down) but in a very quick motion but it never got me high enough revs. What I usually do is when I rev match from high rpm I would have to "blip" the throttle but for a longer period of time(1 sec longer than normal) so I can build up the revs to match. Not sure if I explained myself correctly

I understand, it is normal. I think that is why people mod with lightweight drivetrain parts to make it faster.

More like the throttle mapping is more like the STI's i-mode on the SI-drive... meaning, it's less than linear (instead of S#'s more than linear response). The fix is to remap the throttle map to be more responsive.

I have no problems rev-matching. When I "blip" the throttle, I usually do 2 quick pulses to the pedal, smooth but fast pumps like I'm driving a bass drum, but not pivoting on the heel, and pushing towards with the firewall with my leg.

All these complaints about DBW are useless, actually. NO street cars are made these days which are NOT DBW. So, like abs on everything, we have to just deal with it. There's fixes out there. Use them. Much like the solution to the stock non-grippy tires... replace them.

Take a video showing your foot and rpm changes.

You really shouldn't be revmatching that high. Under braking you want to wait until you're around 3.5-4k, and downshift into the 5k range. You shouldn't be going from 5 to 7.

It's something that you'll acquire with practice and practice.

If it's close to redline you're downshifting too early. When you downshift you should be no higher than 5.5k to have a usable powerband.

Watch best motoring international on youtube. They show the best drivers in Japan. Their camera focuses on driver's foot area, so you can really see how they work around those high rpm downshift.

Blipping is for when you're driving heel and toe. If you're simply down shifting, don't blip the throttle. As you're downshifting, anticipate where the rpm's will want to be when you release the clutch and synchronize your left and right foot so that when the clutch is released the throttle will be at or very close to where it will want to be in the lower gear. It doesn't take a lot of practice to develop this habit and things will be much smoother.
