For me this car is powerfull enough.
I have to say my previous vehicle was a Yaris hybrid (90 hp) and the most powerfull car i ever had was a Toyota Auris with a 1.6 petrol engine (136hp). so i'm not really used to high horsepower cars. I blame the tax regime in Belgium.

Dafuq izzit?! #2 + #3 intake ports siamesed and breathing through 1 carb, vs #1 + #4 having their own dedicated carbs? Seems like an even worse idea than the siamesed middle cylinder exhausts on the old flathead Ford V8! Still, it's fun making weird engines go fast...

I think most forget the meaning this car was made, not to be the fastest race car but to be a light weight RWD car it is (a driver's car). You won't get the best lap time at the local track day, but as many of us know the day will end with a great big smile.
Found this article in a magazine at Barnes and Noble today, thought it was interesting with a very nicely concluded statement. It makes me quite proud to be able drive a car that can be compared like this and still come out on top. Toyota/Subaru did exactly what they planned to do, and I think they did it a little better than some expected.

What do people want for 25k base price? Oh yeah they want a 40k car.
I love mine. I was able to afford to buy, mod, and drive it. ![]() Trips to the gas pump don't kill my wallet either. |

What bothers me is...
the number of people who don't know how to drive a car like the 86/BRZ/FRS... keep the revs up where they are supposed to be... know your limits (and the car's) -- and all's good with the world... just keep an eye out for "The Man w/Radar Gun"...

Don't care about straight races anymore. The frs/brz are amazing on track. And this complaint about being slow? Cmon just add a few bolt ons and a used unichip (quite a few on here) and there is a very noticeable difference. Add some FI? Rip the comp a new one.

Straight races are boring. Stomp gas and go. No thrill in that. But factor in that you've got to brake, turn, make the turn, accelerate out & maintain control over the car & then that's when you're really racing.

Triple carbs on a straight six make perfect sense. Two ports per carb works fine. Four exhaust down pipes for six cylinders does look a little weird but not as inefficient as you might think. Straight sixes are notoriously difficult to design tuned headers for because the firing order isn't ideal. 153624 means each port is not used twice consecutively anyway. Siamesed ports aren't so bad given the firing order. Still one injector into, each combustion chamber is as efficient a fuel delivery as you can manage which is what the BRZ has. |

I had thought it was a big 4-cylinder based on the exhaust pipes.
