FR-S Drift
I aim to Autocross it more, but we have practice Drift sessions one at a time for like 3-4hrs and only $25-$35 for the night, Tons of seat time to get practice and car dialed. I won't tandem it, don't want someone to crash into me!! It Def Sounds like Fun to me to test it out Drifting - Why not
I can't wait to get behind the wheel and Race it!!

Been drifting for the better part of 5 years. I've driven throughout different states and gone to numerous events from Drift Days to ProAm.
There are better platforms to start with than this car. For the price you pay just to buy this car, you can have something built for whatever you need. It comes down to what you're really wanting out of the car. Not saying this car is bad, but for 25k....I can build, essentially, a drift purpose car. I've done it... Key components? Seat time, the right parts, seat time, some extra tires, seat time. It doesn't take much to go and play. The more time you spend on the track in the driver seat, the better you'll get. When you start talking about competing and driving amongst other drivers who are better than you, that's when you'll see a jump in your skill level and in the cost of driving.

even though ive never actually drifted at a track or anything i agree that you could build a car for the price of this car. BUT, that being said, the reason im choosing this car over building a 240 or something like that to drift is that i love the Scion brand. Scion people, to me, seem so much nicer and accepting to others than people that are into other makes.... most of the friends i have today are because i bought a scion and got into the scene.... so sticking with Scion isnt even an option for me. im just doing it, no question. |

You're absolutely right... Sometimes owning a Scion can be frustrating to break the stereotype of ignorant douchebag. And I get even more frustrated when I'm driving with my friends and the 'Scion-only' clubs give me flack for hanging with my amigos. There is more to life than hate that some people don't understand.

Drifter.
Excited over this car. Wouldn't spend $23+k on a brand new car and rag it out on a regular basis like I used to on my AE86. Honestly, if you're starting out, find something cheap. Why? You WILL hit things, and you WILL break things on the car by drifting. If you're just starting out, find a cheap car, and start to learn on events and whatnot. Start out with the stock suspension (if it actually still works to some degree, and isn't completely gone, making the car a boat on the street) and stock steelies / alloys. Wouldn't want to rash those $2000 set of rims while first learning now would ya? Disclaimer: Never drift on public roads. Always drift at sanctioned events. Now, as for me? The first FR-S will probably be a light-tune street setup, just for enjoying driving, keeping her nice and clean. Years down the line I'll snag a used one for cheap, and make that a track slut. Current plans at least. |
