I've honestly never given a crap to get involved with heavy discussions about this. BUT, when I saw there was a new part number and talk of a new part number.
I printed out the TSB, and even the service manager pulled the part and brought it in so we could confirm we weren't putting in an old pump. I actually REALLY like my service dept. at my local Toyota dealer... They've taken great care of my car. I was very skeptical at first, but nowadays, I don't mind bringing it in (although, now I'm on my own with services). Needless to say, 850 miles put on the car since Saturday morning (I drive a LOT), and so far... All I hear is the sweet sowing machine sound of a quiet fuel injected motor. That and my exhaust. |

I guess it's time for me to make an appointment with my dealership to have the new pump installed. Thanks for the headsup.

Giving you a heads up...the new pumps are on backorder at the moment so be ready to get in line and wait. Currently their are 15 on backorder with no ETA showing but you should definetly get yours approved and ordered ASAP so you can get one.

I have had the new pump on for a few weeks so far and no crickets. I think I was one of the first in AZ to get the new fix. Fingers crossed.

We will see if it works as a few members here still have the chirp after two or three pumps.
It's so loud I can hear it with my motorcycle helemt on and radio at a stop light. |

Those pumps weren't this part number though. They were just some minor revisions. This pump has a completely new part on it that's different from the others which is why this one is working.

Still on my stock pump from June 6, 2012. At 12k miles, and haven't heard the crickets since around 2500 miles. They do go away...

I had another issue that warranted it getting changed though. I'm almost at 4000mi with the one I have now and it's still chirping strong. It makes for a decent conversation at stop lights when I'm out cruising with friends though.

This is great news that a new pump is out. I will wait another couple months to confirm it is truly fixed and then will have mine replaced.
Thanks to those who posted the TSB. |

I'm going in for the pump in 3 weeks. I could live with the chirps, but not when they mutated into woodpeckers.

I have an appointment to drop my car off in the morning tomorrow. I'll report back once I get the car back as whether it's a true fix or not.
