As far as Dunkels go, I really like Franziskaner (probably didn't spell that right!), but there are many that I like. Easily drinkable beers, they are. And spot on with the Purple Haze, for a beer with flavors added, it is one of the best. Lagers, on the other hand, really taste the same (all should really just be cold) and aren't really made for flavor, Stella is a good one, but it's about the same as Heineken, IMHO. |

...but it is a contender! Although their bacon one is even worse. Pink bottle and all too. Point in case, stay away from beer in pink bottles (Delirium Tremens doesn't count because it's only the elephants!) IMO, MGD 64 is one of the worst ever made. and 3%? Might as well drink my piss after an Arrogant Bastard, it has more alcohol and more flavor. |

lately I'm liking more and more microbrew stuff, ever since I stop drinking at home (due to my daughter) I end up drinking with friends on local microbrewery, this weekend I got to try mad lab.

I finally was able to source a bottle of Ommegang's Iron Throne and a couple bottles of Take the Black. Iron Throne tasted kinda like their Gnommegang blonde ale but...rougher. It had a coarser mouthfeel and the hops were a bit more present. An excellent brew. Take the Black was also very good but as I'm not big on stouts I don't really have a good frame of reference.
I also found a bottle from them I've never seen before called Goudenhop. It's a very hoppy Belgian blonde ale...probably the closest thing to an IPA they make (as Belgians don't drink IPAs). I thought it was excellent, and I know they'll probably never make one to sell but I'd LOVE to see what they can do for an actual IPA. This coming weekend I'll be cracking open my bottle of their XV - 15th anniversary ale. I've been holding onto it for a couple months waiting to get a couple of my buddies together to open it. Very excited! |

You have great taste. FYI, Double Bastard hits the shelves today. Cheers, mate.
