That's interesting because I use the wax version all the time and all the black plastic still like new. That must be because I polish it with Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax and it's sealed?

I use their wax too, but I don't wax the plastics.

Reading off the label,

"New synthetic polymers crosslink to form a protective barrier that amplifies reflections for incredible depth and mirror-like shine without white residue on plastic or rubber."

Like opticoat it can be used to protect exposed plastic. I don't purposely put it on the rubber but it certainly gets all over it too and leaves no trace except to shine like new, same as the plastic.

If you Opti-Coat your car, you really wouldn't need to search for the right soap. You could use Dawn dish detergent and still not harm the coating. (or any other part of your car for that matter).
