I think you need a certain number of posts before you can "Thank" people. The button will show up in the bottom right of the other person's post.

This is mostly true.

That said, I bought some really high quality microfibers from Target several years ago, from the Vroom brand or whatever. Unfortunately, it looks like the ones that replaced them ended up being cheap stuff.

i use Mr.Pink on my car all the time from Chemical Guys. Its very cheap for a gallon around 20 bucks and it lasts you a long time.. i wash my car twice a week and im half way done with my gallon and i got it 3 months ago lol ... its concentrated and very delicate with the clear coat not taking off your top coat of wax or anything and it smells amazing... on the wheels just use some diluted simple green, super cheap and it works awesome and also all natural biodegradable substances that is not harsh on the wheels. use a shammy to dry and a seperate shammy to dry the wheels... if you have a leaf blower or something like that - that is not dirty by spitting out dirt or anything dry the car after with that and the wheels ( i do it and its amazing bc you dont get any leakage while you drive and then park the car and noticing all that nasty water dripping from the mirrors after a nice wash). Best wax to use for me imo is Petes53 , really work it into the paint and it will look so good and have a nice wet black look. im in no way shape or form affiliated with them i just love their products, customer service, and the technology behind their products.
Check them out and all their videos that go along with every product on how to use ! www.chemicalguys.com

I have found Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax to be very effective, it's very easy to apply and then wash using Meguires Ultimate Wash and Wax.
The wax lasts forever or so it seems and you can use it on rubber and plastic. When you wash it with the above, even those insect stains that look permanent come straight off.

Works for me on pearl white and the synthetic wax seems to build as you apply new layers, getting even slicker to touch and super water repellant.

You'd want a soap that creates a lot of foam, good lubicrant. Don't buy the ones that have a wax inside, it won't really wax your car and if you already have wax on your car the two different waxes might not work with each other.

Also when it comes to towels, get one with a good GSM, one of 250 or more is best. The best way to tell cheap towels from good ones if they mention GSM.

Here.
For example, a chain warehouse store sells package of microfiber towels that weigh more than 300 GSM, it is dense (passes the sunlight test), and it doesn’t stretch. However they don’t work very well as a cleaning towel, they’re not absorbent and they don’t pick up and hold dust very well. This towel would pass the weight test but wouldn’t pass the touch (it doesn’t grab the imperfections in the skin) and absorbency tests (it pushes water instead of sucking it up).

^Sad truth.

I like Adams car soap, you can buy a big ass bottle of it and i quite like the way it foams. Though there are many other soaps out there left for me to try. Just don't use dishwasher soap, it's too strong for car paint and will strip waxes. Great for wheels though.

Thanks everyone! I placed an order on Meguiars microfiber wash mitts, optimum no rinse, grit guards and sonax wheel cleaner.

Right now I'm struggling to find a good plush microfiber towel for drying

Now that you've got some weekly/daily cleaning supplies, save time on a weekend to do a detail!

If you haven't detailed your car yet, I would suggest using a clay bar to remove any contaminants that have "bonded" with your paint. This will properly prep your paint before you add the wax/polish of your choice. Your first time can be a little tricky, but the key is to keep it very lubricated lubricated. (wow, take that out context )

I use this. 30 bucks but holy shit it's amazing. And sooo soft.

No pressure needed. I just fold it, lay it on the paint and lightly pull it across the paint.

Absorbs water like crazy.

Don't use shammies or anything like that. Microfibers all the way.

Trust me I will start detailing but for now I just want to get used to doing car washes every 3-4 weeks. Is there any plush microfiber towels you can recommend me?

No hose at my apartment building -- I use the GDWM. ~12 high-GSM towels soaked in 1-2 gallons of ONR will do the entire car. I run through a touchless wash beforehand if it's particularly dirty.

The recommendations for meguiar's gold class wash have been good -

but one meguiar's wash product I would recommend against using is their Wash & Wax product; especially on a BRZ, I used it once not realizing it was a wax product and it and seemed to damage the black plastic on the fender vents, fading them at least.
