FR-S comparable?
I haven't really driven to many cars. So I couldn't compare any of these to the frs
Cars I've owned in the past - Ford fusion Scion TC turbo Ford mustang Ford five hundred Hummer What is the frs/brz comparable to? Is it unique to other cars? What's your opinion on this... And by comparable I mean handling, and the way the car feels to the driver. Not really asking about speed because clearly that isn't hard to justify. The closest comparables in terms of power, handling, price and reliability are the Miata and S2000.
Most of the cars listed above by demon are in completely different classes. |

It's comparable to any RWD 2700-2800 lb sports car. I'd say the closest would be an s2000, Miata, or Genesis Coupe. But also it's comparable and competitive to a 350z, 370z, & 240sx to name a few.

The Twins slot the difference between an NC Miata and S2000. They drive like a slightly larger, faster NC Miata with stiff sport suspension and rear seats.
Another comparison, the Twins are very similar to the RX-8. Both 2+2 coupes with comparable speed and handling on paper, although people say the Twins handle better. I haven't driven one so I can't say.

S2000 is a good comparison. Miata is close. I haven't driven an rx8. Mustangs, are not nimble like an fr-s. The fr-s/brz fills a niche, for lightweight rwd and fairly inexpensive.

For a car to be comparable (for me), it also has to look as nice, because let's be real, looks do make a difference.
The only car in comparison is an s2000, the Miata and the RX-8 are (no offense) chick cars, and I would never be caught in one of those alive. Although, s2000s are comparable in looks, I wanted something new, and something with more space. The s2000 is fun to drive though! |

The Mazda MX-5 is the nearest comparison in my book. I've never driven a Honda S2000 or Mazda RX-8. I HAVE driven a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0lt and it felt like a sporty minivan to me. :-)

If I had to pick just one, comparable to the way the FR-S drives, it would be a MX-5, NC, Miata.

I would say it is most comparable to the Subaru BRZ
![]() On a serious note I've heard it called a $25,000 Porsche before. |

One car mag reviewer said you had to step up to a Cayman S to get the same feel from a car. It's not comparable to any of the cars on your list. It is a budget "supercar", IMO. It was designed and built with the same intent as cars that cost three times as much. They aimed very high, and hit the target. It's FUN to drive. I'd rather go for a ride in my car than a ride on the bike.

The twins are an homage to the classic sports cars that were available in the 60s. Handling and control is emphasized over power.
Things like the Triumph TRs and Spitfire, Morris MGA and MGB, Alfa Romeos. Miata was brought in on the same rationalization long after those were no longer available. 240z and RX7 were on the trailing edge of the classics in the 70s, but soon swole up. Austin Healy 3000 and Jaguar XKE were more on the level of the current 370Z at the time. Bigger with more power, but were down on precise control comparatively. The twins may be the new standard in gearhead credentials that an Alfa used to be. (minus the diabolic electricals of the period)

your bike must be slow, lol. Just kidding, but i still prefer riding vs driving, but this car is great.
I have had mustangs, camaros, bmw's, driven in porsches, miatas, and I think this one is my favorite so far. Ther power is a little lower stock for stock, but that can be improved upon. I think it is hard to find a car that is as fun to drive for the price. |
