Anyone else think that this new part number fuel pump is the same as the green dot pump?
The VIN specified in the new TSB is February 2013.
The green dot fuel pump started manufacturing in February 2013.
This makes me think that they just did "wait and see" for 8 months before changing the part number.

I am not sure, but i will try every pump they put out. The only reason I disagree is that I don't know why they would go to the trouble of revising the TSB if the pump was the same. figures if they just changed the part number of the green dot pump they would have done it before now. Just my thought but I will let you know if this one works. I have one on hold for me ready t install when I bring my car in.

I like how I'm linking to threads you've posted in. I guess I just haven't figured out how this is a 'fault' yet.
It gets the odd mention but it's very rare here and i've never seen it apart from by doing a search. Unlike the USA where it's a daily topic.

The first link is a year old and the other 2 refer back to this forum.

If you agree with the dealers who say it's normal, it's not a fault.
If you're pissed off because it wasn't there on the test drive and appeared after purchase, it's a fault.

They must be very confident it's not a symptom of friction and wear that will cause problems later?

You would like to think they had a good try at engineering a solution before giving up and wrapping it up to hide the noise.

Why not issue insulation jackets to fit over the pump so that it can self destruct out of warranty without any symptoms?
My new pump is not insulated. It is definitely a different pump than was in the car originally. The black steel cover that is covering the pump and piping has insulation in it, but it had that with the old pump on my car. There is no green dot on my new pump. I took some pictures with the black steel cover removed, they aren't great. If anyone wants to see them, let me know. I can post them.

I would be interested in seeing the pics please.

As I've said many times, at 13,000km my pump is chirp free but I've followed this thread since it started and would be interested in comparing the new pump in case we start getting the chirps here one day.

[QUOTE=sierra;1306481]I would be interested in seeing the pics please.

The first and third pictures are looking down at the top of the fuel pump from driver's side. The second picture is looking from the front. The yellow at the bottom left is the oil filter. The fourth picture is of the insulation stuck inside the black metal cover that is over the pump and piping. The cover is simply turned up on its side to view the insulation. I did not remove the fuel hose retainer that must be removed to get the black cover out from under the fuel hoses. The final picture is with the black cover installed as it always is - looking from driver's side. I took a few more, but they are really difficult to identify what you are looking at. Taking pictures of black stuff in a very dark and black field requires better photo equipment than I have, and more time than I have.

It is the same TSB. It just has a new revision, "Revision 2". The new revision is dated October 17, 2013.
