I take it you weren't around for when that happened in the opposite manner.

^I agree much of the grunt work was executed by Subaru but it was a collaboration spearheaded/catalyzed by Toyota (more specifically Toyoda). It's like when a big corporation like Apple defines a form factor for their new iPhone and a list of objectives/goals it should meet. Outsourced 3rd party engineers/developers/manufacturers from overseas execute a bulk of the work to achieve those goals but hardly get any credit for it - Apple does. Everyone deserves credit but my perception from what I've read about their collaborative actions is Subaru had to report their progress to Toyota (being the RWD expert) for approval as if Toyota were the boss overseeing this project. Ultimately, the collaboration benefits both parties in being low cost which is impossible if one party were missing so we should include both (it's just easier to credit the original overseer). 1 + 1 = 3
Also, Toyota did tune the suspension slightly differently than the BRZ (86 errs towards neutral/oversteer whereas BRZ errs towards neutral/understeer per Top Gear reviews) so some handling subtleties Chris talks about may not be true for the Subaru version.

This review is wonderful, I'm so happy I pre-ordered the car. This car is gonna be worth it. As for the LSD, its standard in a Torsen configuration, at least for the FR-S regardless of transmission. Don't know what the bfd is on that is... People are probably gonna swap it out anyway

Edit - watched again (well, for the 4th time) - exhaust sound is definitely from inside. Sounds great I think. |
