Passenger side window issue. I've searched and tried everything but no fix

Just got a '13 BRZ a couple days ago, and I've been trying to get this fixed myself after searching all over the internet for a solution. My passenger side window won't auto-roll up or down, the auto-scroll button on that side of the door is blinking, and I can't even get it to roll up/down from the driver side switch. When I open the passenger side door, the window slightly opens (like the driver side) but doesn't close back up when I close the door. This is in Texas weather, so no freezing window strips that I know of. There's are the steps I found on FT86 forums and that I've tried:

• Roll window all the way down, wait for click, then roll all the way up, then wait for click
• The same as above, but wait 10 seconds each way
• Roll it halfway down, then all the way up until it clicks
• Roll it down, shut off car, put it back to On mode, and then all the way up until it clicks
• I tried to follow the User Manual, but it is worded weird. I tried rolling it up twice (even though it is already up) and then again for a third time but this time I held it
• I tried holding it for way longer than 10 seconds. When I did this, after about 15 seconds, the light on the window switch will shut off. When I let go of the button, the light starts to blink again.

When people mention the click, is it the same click you hear when car tells you it is all the way up or down? Is there a video that shows me what kind of click I am looking for? Does anyone have any other suggestions that I can do to fix it? I have a scheduled appointment to Subaru the Saturday after next, but if I could, I would rather fix it myself asap. Thanks!

You must perform this WHILE SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT!

Continue to hold the button (on the second press) UP for 5-10 seconds. You may hear a click.

Now, it should be reset.

Again, the "trick" is to sit in the passenger seat and use the PASSENGER door buttons.

Come back and tell us if this worked. This will benefit others with the same problem.

Yea I tried all of these while in the passenger seat. Nothing was done on the drivers side.

You pulled the window button ALL THE WAY UP? The manual states the button must be pulled and held in the uppermost position, the position where the button clicks and normally activates the auto-up feature. You must hold it there.

Your window is behaving consistent with mine when it is malfunctioning, usually from snow and ice. The auto-up no longer works and the window switch blinks.

I reset the window by putting it all the way down, then pulling up on the window button fully to the second position, the auto-up position when the button clicks, and roll the window up about half way. Release the button, stopping the window midway. Repeat above, but continue holding the button in the fully UP position until the window is fully closed, and CONTINUE holding the window switch button FULLY UP for another five seconds or so.

This has always worked to reset my windows on both driver and passenger side, just as the manual describes.

If this fails to work on your car, then I have no further suggestions.

My windows don't even roll up/down in the normal position, it only works in the auto-roll position (even though it doesn't actually auto.) I'll try going up halfway, and then all the way. Do you mean roll it all the way down, then half way up, then all the way down, then all the way up? Or all the way down, then half way up, stop, and then all the way up?

Having exactly the same problem with my left side window and have tried all the things you have done, plus disconnecting battery and reconnect. The car was totally apart for the accident repair and repaint, not sure if this affected it. Tried to pull codes but the mechanics reader would not read. Have the code reader now but have yet to install the software. I think (hope) it just needs a code clearing. Also going for first service in a few weeks.

I have had the frozen window problem and this is different.

I suspect it has to do with the sensor that prevents the window from autoscrolling. Was hoping I wouldn't need to have it replaced, but it might come down to that.

I'm kinda having the same problem. This happened two days ago, when the weather temperature went minus.
The buttons on the driver seat is blinking, and the window on the driver seat wont roll up when the door is closed. Furthermore the button for the passenger seat doesn't work, but it does work on the passenger seat.
I'm going to try the possible solutions you've given and let you know if it works.

Okay most of you, maybe not the op, are just have the jam safety feature.

When it goes icy over night and you open your door, nothing happens because your windows frozen, so it goes into the auto jam feature.

IF IT DOES IT ON THE PASSENGER DOOR, YOU HAVE TO CONTROL IT FROM THE PASSENGER CONTROLS.

Click AND HOLD all the way down for 5 seconds AFTER rolls down, and then the same procedure for on the way up. Fixed. Down and hold, up and hold. Manual makes it sound to damn complicated.

This has been happening to me all damn week.

Is there a permanent fix for the window freezing problem? It's getting to be a royal PTA to keep doing this every morning.

Shouldn't happen once temperatures stay below zero, it's all the condensation from the nights dipping below every night being the problem.

I'm sorry, but I made a mistake here. I just checked the Subaru manual.

One must close the doors. Lower the window. Pull the window switch all the way up and raise the window a little. Stop. Raise it a little again. Stop. Now raise it a THIRD time, holding the button in the fully UP position until the window is fully closed, and CONTINUE holding the window switch button FULLY UP for another five seconds or so.

THREE TIMES, not twice as I had originally said.

Try this and see if it works.

I'll be doing it soon, myself, as the temps are now dropping below freezing, and these windows do not like the winter. They malfunction on almost a daily basis when there's snow and ice. It's very annoying; a Subaru that does not like winter.

Let us know if "THREE times up" works for you.

I should also note that in an attempt to remedy this on-going problem last winter, I slathered silicone grease onto all the rubber window seals; it was a mess.

The miserable window mechanism STILL froze and screwed up the windows!

I'm thinking that the glass may be freezing down at the base, since it could not freeze at the top with all of that silicone grease. But, I cannot lube the base, or the entire window glass will be smeared with lube every time it is raised and lowered.

I guess this is just the dues we pay for being Early Adopters on this new car.

I still enjoy this BRZ Ltd. MT as much as ever, though.

Tried the three times up and still no go I agree, I still love the car to death, but it would be nice to be able to drive with the windows down lol.
