Well, I've been lurking on this thread with the replacement com-c's on the car without too many problems, however the last few days I've noticed a large clunking sound while driving coming from the front. Debating about going back to the stockers, but I'm wondering if someone here can offer up a alternate solution - I have the stock structs with RCE yellows on the car, so I need a top hat that could adjust camber/caster with that setup. @neurokinetik - do you know if the GC caster/camber plates will work? I seem to recall another thead stating they only were for use with aftermarket coilovers. Thanks for the info/advice in advance!

Might be quicker to just contact GC directly and get the information straight from the source.

Figured I'd cover both my bases, ask them, and you guys - mostly for input from the customer - would rather not have a repeat of the com-c experience.

I'm running HVT plates with RCE yellow springs and stock struts. Although the caster isn't adjustable they do have additional built in. The are quiet and allow 2 degrees of negative camber on this setup. I've been very pleased with them.

Hello,

I don't think the GC plates work with anything other than coilovers.

I would recommend the HVT plates fstlane posted above. Quiet, functional, and non-raising.

Hey Andy, do you guys sell them? I originally got the Com-Cs from you - the RCE Yellows are great, the top mount, not so much

I think the ideas of the Whiteline products are good, but the execution is poor for some products, and seems to have been for a while. Their Max-C camber/caster plates for the GD had some major bearing issues for the GD Impreza chassis, back in 2007, and they were pulled off the market. Their roll-center kits have been through many revisions due to issues, their GR-chassis ALK's have been through many revisions due to issues, the BRZ Com-c plates are obviously having the same kinds of issues. Yes, they are pretty good about warrantly replacements, but it's still not good having a car down with issues and having to constantly R&R parts.

I think their swaybars have been pretty trouble-free though.

You have to specify your spring diameter with the GC plates when you order them. The only options I see right now are 2", 2.5" and 60mm. Pretty sure stock spring sizes are way bigger than all of those.

Yup - GC answered me pretty quick - they are no designed for the OEM strut. After looking around I ended up putting a order in for the HVT's - looks like they get a good review, just really expensive! I'm just ready to get away from the Com-Cs - liked the 2 degrees they gave you out of the box, but just not a quality product. Surprised actually to see a lot of the stores that advertise here still have them listed, FT86SpeedFactory/RCE to name two of them I saw today poking around.

Hi John,
Thanks for the reply. Are you developing a 86 specific version?

Subject: RE: 86/BRZ Com-C

Hi Marcus,

We do offer part number KCA335 (for Impreza), that will bolt on, but there are 2 issues –

The caster angle once installed, on the 86 loads the bearing up quite allot
And the studs are not long enough for our 86 strut brace to bolt on

Subject: 86/BRZ Com-C

Hi,
I was just wondering if there was an ETA on the com-c strut tops for the Toyota 86? I am looking at buying some coilovers in the next month and was hoping to use the com-c at the same time.

Regards
Marcus Galagher
Sorry its in email order, i am too lazy to rearrange it to chronological. But i would say if you have noisy ones already push for a refund.

FWIW, I emailed Jan and he is supposedly initiating the refund process for my broken Com-Cs.

Contact the vendor you purchased them from. Yo from Speed Factory was more than happy to take them back and give me in store credit (mine were still new). Then he was going to deal directly with Whiteline afterwards.
