Doesn't look much like it would help much to me. In the rain we get here it would fill up in no time (say left outside over night in the rain) unless it drains somewhere. The current drains in this case look like they'd still drain onto the engine. Care to do a car wash test?

Any issues other than it being hideous? Probably not.

I think some of you are underestimating the engines ability to get a little wet. You will be fine. If you want a vented hood you have to sacrifice somewhere. The only other option you would have that would offer some kind of protection would be RK Sports ram air hood and thats not really the same in regard to function. They do however make great hoods. Been using RK for over a decade without any issues. Vented hoods mean just that, they are going to have vents which means it no longer serves as an umbrella for your engine, otherwise it doesn't make for a very good vented hood. I have this hood because I need the cooling it provides and the gaurds are just something VIS didn't have to do but did and it was very thoughtful in my opinion. It helps those who are in more diverse annual climates. Nobody else goes that extra mile that I am aware of. Besides as a bonus I like the way it looks and in person the hood fits the car way better than I would have thought it would have. It gets very hot here in AZ and I generate a considerable amount of heat with what you don't see in the pics so this hood fit the bill
No flexing at all in high speed environments, vents, has the ability to provide some protection from the elements, fits perfectly, and turns heads.Must have been of interest enough for you to come in a thread and post to each their own, thats why there are options............

If it were me I wouldnt even be concerned about it at all with this particular hood. If they are good ballasts they will be weather packed and the fuse box has its own protection with its own cover. I spray more methanol/water in my engine intentionally than you will ever suck in rain with your intake unless you are driving it through rivers or lakes.
It sounds like this is a pretty big concern for you so personally I would just keep the stock hood unless you are looking for something with funtion. In your case it is for looks and worrying about it every time it drizzles out will get old fast. Again I wouldn't worry about it but only you can change that perception. Of the vented hoods this is one of very few that does offer at least some protection.

Its gonna be hard to want to cover that carbon with paint. That was my intentions too but for the meantime I am going to just spray a good clear on it and keep it carbon until I get bored of it. The quality is just too good to cover up just yet. With all my other carbon accent (APR full lip kit) it actually looks really good on white. I am not usually a fan of that much carbon exposed but I am going to keep it for a while maybe.
