mud guards - anyone else got them?

After I got my FR-S home I took a closer look at the car and notice those holes at the back of the rear wheel wells (see pic 1 below). The are screws in the holes at back of the the front wheel well, but it still looks like something might be missing (pic 2).

Later, while browsing on eBay (search: "FR-S") I found several listings for FR-S mud guards. These are genuine Toyota parts from a Toyota dealer (Mechanicsville Toyota), and they seem to be specific to the FR-S - I doubt they'd fit any other model Toyota or Scion. At ~$50 they were cheap enough, so I ordered a set and they arrived today (see pics 3 and 4). NOTE: I just notices these are $109 on the Toyota web site.

Anybody else have these installed? On the few FR-S's I've seen around, none have this option.

(Sorry for the blurry pics - Ansel Adams I ain't...)

they are standard on canadian cars

in the U.S it is offered as a option

the rears are easy to put on

the front is a pita and will require drilling... just a heads up!

forum search not working?

Right after I post I discover several other threads on the same topic...
Why didn't these show up when I searched all forums for "mud"?

All four require drilling! The rears require you to take the wheel off and drill; and even then it is a bit of work to get the drill in there around the brake...really a right angle drill would be the right tool. Once on they fit will and look good.

They dont "require" drilling. Its only one push rivet that goes into the drilled hole. I ran them without those rivets for about two weeks until I had the time to take the wheels off and drill. No damage done.

Heres the instructions:

BTW @Toyotapartsoutlet has them for less then Mechanicsville Toyota.

Since Subaru still can't order them, I picked up a set from an area Toyota dealer and had the service department at my Subaru dealer install them when they did my complimentary first oil change. Only cost $18. Very happy I did, they did a nice job and it saved me the hassle. The two exposed pre-drill holes at the rear were really starting to annoy me, and now she looks properly finished.

While they don't "require" drilling, they'll be a bit more sturdy if you do it. The hole drilled is in plastic and doesn't cause any issues with water since it's plugged afterward anyhow.

I installed them per instructions and I really don't foresee any issues. Pretty easy.

Mine came with them... IMO they look funny on cars unless its a rally car.

Removed the mud guards today. Does anyone want them for 25bucks? (+ shipping) PM me.

Thanks, I caught some pictures while browsing and think they're not my cup of tea. Maybe If I'd bought a raven instead of a Hot Lava.
