Correct me if I'm wrong but the specs are awfully similar to what we have here in Australia - the 86 GTS?

I love Toyota and Subaru but I'm frankly puzzled at all the Scion hate. I find it hard to fathom tbh. Personally I think the lightning bolt 'S' looks better than the Cowboy hat logo Toyota went to in the 90's. Never liked that decision. It's also a brand only in N. America nobody gets and could soon disappear making it even more special.
I don't know what personal trauma people have experienced to become so allergic to a 'brand' or logo. I remember the stupid 10 Series commercials Scion made and honestly they're actually funny as hell once you 'get it'. This is actually how the Japanese would perceive us Americans in their cute/quirky fashion. I think it's fucking hilarious. I also think Scion is the most Japanese of ways that they would perceive a specific American market niche. It's awesome. Watch this video and you'll get what Scion is really about! It's very Japanese. After watching this, the Scion 10 series commercial makes perfect sense!! Only thing on this entire list I would have paid for was the armrest. Seems a fair trade for having 17 months and 28,000 miles of fun while not waiting for the perfect car.

You can look at the weight of the BRZ limited for an idea. Though that will have a spoiler and possibly more sound deadening.
To guesstimate the weight of the armrest, I'd say not more than 550lbs. |

Another happy FR-S owner here. I agree with "less is more" thing....buying the car with very little to no options to keep the car's price down out of the door. I knew Scion was all about making your car...YOURS. Took delivery of my car April '13 with 96mi and here I am almost 7 months later with 6,100ish mi. This is my DD and every second, every minute, every hour since driving it off the lot has been a thrill.
Sure, if someone were to pull up with a monogram specced Firestorm (if that color is available), that driver may think and feel like he's/she's the new hype, but I feel I still have the "upper hand". Who knows, by that time I might have mine looking like a monogram spec. Actually, I just want the elusive headlights. Everything else, I can deal without. And, probably by that time, mine might be how I want it...looks and performance wise. Again, going back to making it YOUR car. Personally, I've got love for FR-S/BRZ owners alike. Whichever one I see, I simply acknowledge that driver and respect that we have some unique cars regardless of features or other criteria. Now, if I could ever find the dude in my neighborhood that owns a WRB BRZ. Hahaha I LOVE MY CAR! |

Just buy a 2013 BRZ limited. You get everything this car has to offer without paying for the "special edition" price that they're going to try to sell you.
People who complain about a BRZ bumper I think just want to jump on the FR-S bumper bandwagon. I have my BRZ parked next to an FR-S right outside and seeing both side by side, in person, I can honestly say that both front ends look very nice. I used to be on the bandwagon of FR-S bumpers and would waste my time googling "Swap BRZ bumper with FR-S". It's the stupidest thing ever. Now that I have an FR-S parked next to me daily I always look at both front ends and realize, "Hmm...the FR-S bumper doesn't look as incredibly flawless as everyone makes it out to be." BRZ has a nice looking front end + a ton of features. It's basically side by side with Scion's Monogram FR-S, except by the time the Monogram comes out you're going to be better off getting a BRZ Limited for thousands of dollars less. With all that money you save you can go ahead and get your reverse camera, exhaust, wheels, suspension, tint, stereo system, and whatever else you feel like spending the money that you saved on. And for those people talking about trading in your FR-S already to get this new Monogram, think about how much money you're upside-down, then add that onto the new loan that you need for the Monogram, and then add interest. No one should be putting themselves in a financial hole. You're gonna end up paying 35k+ for a Monogram bone stock. Just wait until you start wanting suspension, wheels, etc. You'll be in a financial sink hole when you could've just kept your current FR-S and invested money into what you have instead of taking 10 Series of steps backwards. |
