KBB trade value right now on my car with 11k miles on it is $19,333 in Good condition. I didn't have my used car mgr check Manheim's MMR to see what they are bringing at auction so I don't know what actual transaction prices are.

I am fortunate that my lease ends in June because in northeast PA, sports cars and other RWD's take a little bit of a hit coming into winter. My dealership has wholesalers that will buy that stuff off of us over the winter because they can get them cheaper and hold them until the spring. Color can effect resale value as well. I know a few years ago, yellow Jeep Wranglers would bring "all the money" at auction compared to similar Jeeps in a different color.

Long story short, we will all just have to wait and see how it all plays out.

I think you have a valid point. I have traded-in and sold privately lots of cars. People are typically looking for cars that have more options, and many of the convenience features like push button start, automatic climate control, etc are quite popular with folks who are used to having them.

That said, this is a rather no frills sports car, not a luxury sedan, so I think that the cheaper base model will still be popular for those looking to find a used model at the lowest price that they will want to mod and make their own anyway.

I'm gonna guess this pushes the pricing to $29,999. We should get a bet going .

2014 BRZ Limited for manual including destination is $28,390 MSRP.

I think this should be the target for Scion with the Monogram series when you keep in mind that many Subaru dealers are now moving on selling their cars under MSRP. Clint sells his for under invoice which puts you in the $26K or so range for a Limited manual... So target price for most BRZ Limited buyers should be $26,500-27,500 or so.

I could see the retail value of normal frs possibly dipping a small amount.
When you look at older civics the ex models are almost always a good couple gs more. Race car wise I know nobody cares, but daily driver wise they are nice to have everyday.

Seriously, a "special" paint job and a couple minor detail changes didn't make any of those special edition Miatas any more valuable. The 10 series is just like that.

Keep in mind that the fully optioned Toyota 86 in Japan costs something like $35000.

As a 10 series owner, I have no problem with this. There are still only 2500 silver ignitions in the world and will be, plus I got my car a lot earlier to use and enjoy. Honestly all the current paint options don't speak to me at all. Ultramarine's flake is too large and overpowering in person, white is nice but the 86 white seems to go yellow waaay too soon for my comfort. Already have black, PITA color to maintain. No way I'd get argento of silver ignition. Don't do red or orange cars. I'm glad others who didn't like silver ignition now have options.

I'm pretty sure I won't be sad either once pricing is released compared to the 10 series. I also have a feeling the strength of demand of us 10 series buyers helped greenlight Toyota's decision to offer this Monogram option.

The only thing that will make me regret getting a 10 series is if Toyota comes out w/ a KERS Hybrid FRS w/ 2.5L at the same weight at the current car.
Quick, someone start a Monogram Series Registry.

@Anaxilus, that's what I was going to say. I'm happy about this for several reasons:

--Toyota stuck to their word and kept 10 Series Silver Ignition exclusive and limited production, then hopefully retired it. It's not my favorite color (that would be 202 Black), but everyone who has seen it live comments favorably. Conceivably, there will be fewer Monograms built of any color compared to the 2,500 10 Series, but it appears they won't be a limited run.

--Improvements are limited to non-performance features. I'd be steamed if they created another IS300 with the L-Tuned spec stiffer springs, anti-roll bars, bigger wheels and tires.

--Price. Given the option load and $ vs. ¥ forecasts, expect another $2K+ above 10 Series pricing.

I'm happy they're offering this choice while keeping the base car with all of the same performance attributes available to a wider audience.

Honestly the only things I want is the led headlights and the spoiler. Everything else I really don't care about. Hopefully parts drop in prices.

If the resale value of the 13 goes down then that's just more good news for me since I can buy one cheaper now, that I've waited this long. And I could just order the headlights of a 2014+ model.

The headlights are uber expensive. I want to say like close to $1500-2K when it is all said and done (someone feel free to correct me). You would be better off buying a used BRZ Limited. I have seen those selling for $24Kish near me with under 10k miles. Next year you may find a higher mileage one for under $22.

Thought it was only that expensive for the people who had gotten them from Japan dealers? Now that they are being installed on the FR-S by way of the 10 Series and this Monogram edition, I imagine being available in the states now price might go down. At least I was hoping it would. A salesman said they would start including the headlights into the new year models anyway. So, I might go new still. Just don't want any leather seats.

And I don't want a BRZ.

They should have come with the standard 2014 unit, IMO.

2) "Those who waited," if they get this car, will be paying more money, even base MSRP. Every buyer who didn't get a 2013 will be paying more money than I had to. For example, when I got my 2007 tC, it was about $16,900. The base price for the new ones are pushing $20k now. Its a different car at this point, but the MSRP for the FR-S has already increased twice, to my knowledge. Power bump allegedly scheduled for 2015 will increase the price as well. Yet here I will be, car mostly paid off, still tearing through curves and twisties with a stupid smile on my face.
I'm talking from a marketing standpoint with the whole First 86 party, 10 Series exclusiveness; not that elite anymore. Of course it's going to be more expensive, those options are not free.

Based on what I've seen so far, you could pick up a used '13 for 20K. I'm looking for one to run on weekend events and on the track.

I too have a stupid smile on my face when I tear through the twisties... on 2 wheels that is!

The "FRS" is not a pile of shit. If you possessed the slightest amount of comprehension you'd see that I was specifically speaking about the logo. No matter how you want to put it "Scion" rings nothing but ugly tC's and horribly modified cars.

No I do not have the same logo. There is nothing but Toyota and Subaru plastered all over the interior of my car.

Scion does nothing but add nasty features to the cars. Glowing logo? Glowing dashboard cover?
